Saturday afternoon’s adventures led us to river_rockacres just outside of Lucknow, and what a blast we had!

We’re so lucky to have such an amazing fall attraction so close to home. From the wagon rides to the corn maze, feeding all the animals and everything else in between — there’s so much for the whole family to do. We can’t wait to go back.
If you’re looking for something to do this Thanksgiving weekend, definitely add River Rock Acres to the list!

Up and at ’em early this morning

A load of steers and pigs off to The Beef Way — and a pretty full order book going with them.

90% of the beef on this load is spoken for in customer 1/4s, leaving only a tiny bit to restock our store. A few of the pigs are customer orders too.

Going forward, we only have 1 1/4 beef left unspoken for for the remainder of the year. The shelves in the store may look a little slimmer for a bit while we keep up with these custom orders. 🤎

The Crock Pot might just be the most underrated tool in the kitchen 🙌🏼

This morning I threw beef ribs, potatoes & carrots in the Crock-Pot, added a few seasonings and walked away. Less than 15 minutes of prep and supper was taken care of.

By tonight, the ribs were quite literally falling off the bone 🤤 And when Ty and the girls got home, all they had to do was grab a plate and dish up supper.

I think sometimes we make feeding our families good, hearty food seem harder than it needs to be. It doesn’t have to mean fancy recipes, a mile-long ingredient list, or hours spent in the kitchen.

Simple ingredients. Good local food. And a crock pot doing most of the work.

Somehow it’s been a minute since we’ve checked in here. 😅

September came in hot — the girls headed back to school, we spent a day at the Brussels Fall Fair showing sheep & cattle, and celebrated our last wedding of the year — and a beautiful one at that! Congratulations Aunt Hannah & Uncle Cole! 🤎

Now fall harvest is underway, and the backpacks are barely hitting the floor before the girls are headed for Papa’s buddy seat. And hockey season is right around the corner!

Just one busy season rolling straight into the next!

And while we’ve been quiet on here, we definitely haven’t been quiet behind the scenes. We’re restocking the store all the time, and you can always find us stocked at Ultramar in Lucknow too!

If you’ve been thinking about filling your freezer, we’re taking names for our ¼ & ½ beef waiting list, and we also have ½ & whole pigs available. Send us a message for more details or to get your name on the list!

Somehow summer has slipped away, and suddenly these two are both heading off to be Little Ravens! 🥹

Before the school year begins, we’re taking a little family vacation to soak up the last wee bits of summer. ☀️

The store will be CLOSED Wednesday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 6th.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding!

Here’s to squeezing in a few more summer memories before backpacks, school lunches, meal prep and busy school mornings begin. 🤎

The kids got a good taste of character building & cousin bonding time yesterday 😂

Papa put the grandkids to work picking rocks in what will be our new hay ground.

Of the 5 of them, can you guess who…

— Sang & talked the entire time
— Worked hard, but regularly checked if we were done yet… or when the snacks were coming

And of course, Papa’s buddy seat was never empty.

Making memories… and hopefully a few less rocks to find next year. 🚜
