A week ago, our apple trees were covered in blossoms — and buzzing with some very important visitors. 🍎🐝

Bees play a huge role in apple production. As they move from blossom to blossom collecting nectar and pollen, they help pollinate the flowers that will eventually become apples. Without pollinators, there would be far fewer fruits to harvest.

One of the coolest things to spot is the pollen packed onto their legs — those little yellow “pollen baskets” are called corbiculae. Bees can visit thousands of blossoms in a single day, carrying pollen between flowers as they go.

Apple blossoms only last for a short window each spring, which makes them feel even more special. The petals may be gone now, but thanks to the bees’ hard work, the next stage of the season is already underway. 🌸➡️🍏

An appreciation post for the blossoms that brightened the orchard last week — and for the bees that make it all possible.

We’re excited to celebrate local family author Deb Crunican and her wonderful collection of children’s books — now paired with an adorable tiny clothing display featuring toddler and baby t-shirts inspired by her stories.

The collection includes beloved titles like Teegan and the Teeny Tiny Tick, Welcome to the Farm, and the Orchard Series featuring Each One Matters and Each Season Matters — stories that gently remind little readers that everyone matters and every season matters.

The matching shirts bring the books to life with sweet graphics and playful designs that little ones will love. We’re in that exciting stretch where the orchard changes almost by the hour. 🌸 Right now, everything is starting to look greener, and everywhere you turn there are little pops of pink showing through the rows. We’ve been waiting so patiently for blossom season, and now it finally feels like we’re only days — maybe even hours for some varieties — away from full bloom.

At this stage, the blossoms are mostly in what’s called the pink cluster stage. The flower buds always grow in clusters, with one bloom right in the center surrounded by several smaller blossoms around the outside. That center flower is known as the “king bloom,” and over the next day or two we’ll start seeing more and more of those opening first.

It’s one of the most exciting moments in the orchard — watching the trees wake up and knowing the full sea of blossoms is almost here. 🌸🍎
