Hi there, we are Danielle and Alicia Guichon and we are excited to present to you our official page for Backroads Family Farm Market. We will use this page to bring you the latest information about our small business and help us connect with our customers within the community. In brief, our entrepreneurial spirit started from a very young age. Our mother and father encouraged us to sell o

ur family farm's fresh corn door-to-door in our neighbourhood. Not long after, in 2001 we began selling produce at the Ladner Village Market, organized by Bill and Tracey McKnight. As the youngest vendors, we acquired business and marketing skills that we value and still use today. In the Summer of 2009 we took our Ladner Market set up to the road and Arthur Drive Roadside Stand was born. Over the next 5 years we steadily grew our little Summer business (June-September) under our pop-up tent with only 8-10 items and forged many friendships with customers and suppliers. All these endeavors have led us to this point! Our family built this stand in 1980 and ran it for 8 years. Things on the farm picked up and it was leased out to new owners thereafter. After 17 years of vacancy we have decided to reopen this location that holds so many memories not only for us, but for others in the community that remember shopping here throughout the 1980s and 1990s as well. You can expect to see Local produce while in season, as well as other fresh fruits, veggies and local goods. We strive to bring you the utmost quality and freshness from local sources and elsewhere for your convenience. We take pride in the community we live in and support local farmers as much as possible, when possible. It has been an emotional weekend! We are rolling into our 25th year as vendors at the Ladner Village Market. We often forget to celebrate our milestones but this one is hitting us like a tonne of bricks! 25 YEARS 🤯 In all these years we have not missed one Market day. Not one. In the Summer of 2001 we started and we were the youngest vendors to sign up! We have been promoting the importance and excitement of buying local the majority of our adolescence and adulthood. Our calling to agriculture wasn’t always obvious but completely undeniable as the years went on. Our communities of Ladner and Tsawwassen have watched us grow up- from selling corn from our dads truck on Arthur Drive (because we couldn’t drive yet lol) to the Ladner Village Market. The support we received and our growth got us to open our own farm business ‘Backroads Market’ where we have been located and open seasonally since 2014. This progression over 25 years is something for all of us to celebrate, THANK YOU for supporting us and showing how important local farmers are to this community- now more than ever!

Full/Part-time hours
Start/End date- mid MAY-NOVEMBER
Must be able to work morning and early afternoon shifts during the week/weekends. Some after school shifts available.
Pay starts at minimum wage but there is room for growth/raises throughout the season.
