Trimming carrots! Did you know that carrots are a biennial, and trimming the tops off is a good idea if you're looking to store them for a good long while...? (If we want to grow carrots for seed, then tops stay on, and the carrot is planted out in the soft freshly cultivated spring ground and away it grows!)🥕

We sell unwashed carrots as well ( firsts and seconds) in 25 lb bags with fall leaves. That's basically how we manage to keep carrots until April in a passive cold storage area in the old bank barn (no re**er.) With damp leaves surrounding the carrots that are stored in breathable feed bags...🥕

Customers are catching on to the benefits of unwashed carrots - the skins are not compromised from washing so they taste very sweet and fresh!🥕

Our clay loam has lots of minerals that support the carrot's flavour and keeping quality. 🥕
And Golden Acres Farm is certified organic!🥕

It’s an ingredient used in cuisines around the world. Sweet, earthy, mellow, acrid and pungent, the more you work with it, the stronger it gets. It's also a great way to scare away vampires. It is, of course, garlic. Jasmine Mangalaseril explored the world of garlic, and shares what she found.
