🌾 Homemade Seedy Spelt Crackers 🌾
Looking for a wholesome, crunchy snack made with simple ingredients? These Seedy Spelt Crackers are packed with flavour, fibre, and the nutty goodness of freshly ground spelt flour and rolled oats. Perfect with cheese, hummus, soups, or enjoyed all on their own!
Ingredients
¾ cup unsalted sunflower seeds
¾ cup flaxseeds
⅓ cup sesame seeds
3 tbsp poppy seeds
1 cup freshly ground Fieldstone Organics Spelt Flour
1 cup freshly flaked large oats
1 tbsp dried minced onion
1 tbsp dried minced garlic
1¼ tsp kosher salt
1 cup water
3 tbsp olive oil
Method
Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Position racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven.
Spread the sunflower, flax, sesame, and poppy seeds on a baking sheet and toast for about 8 minutes, until lightly golden.
Transfer toasted seeds to a bowl and stir in the spelt flour, oats, onion, garlic, and salt.
Gradually mix in the water and olive oil until combined.
Divide dough in half. Roll each portion between two sheets of parchment paper into a rectangle approximately 12 x 10 inches.
Remove the top parchment sheet and transfer the dough and bottom parchment onto baking sheets.
Bake for 10–15 minutes, rotating and switching pans halfway through, until browned and crisp.
Cut with a pizza cutter partway through baking, or simply break into rustic pieces once cooled.
