Hello June 🌸
The garden has quietly stepped into its most beautiful season.

Soft pink roses and peonies line tables and fill bowls, their petals gathered slowly, with jam in mind and summer in the air.
A few quiet days like this — moving between blooms, hands lightly scented with rose — feel like the heart of June.

Later this month, these same petals will find their way into jars of Peony & Rose Petal Jam for our Seasonal Pantry and at The Farm House Natural Cheeses

June always feels like a pause between spring’s unfolding and summer’s fullness — slow mornings, warm afternoons, and the gentle work of gathering what the garden offers.

The cutest welcoming committee has settled into the front pen so well and is loving every second of grazing the tall grass and soaking up all the extra pets and attention from you guys 🐐🤍

Meanwhile, the rest of the girls have been very eager to enjoy the same luxury pasture access 😂 Unfortunately after one windy evening, two large trees came down and damaged part of the fence near our goat barn ..leaving us with quite the cleanup job.

Cleanup is nearly complete, and now it’s time to get the fence back up so everyone can finally enjoy the grass again 🌿

Our market truck is on its last legs 💔

She’s carried us through so many markets over the years… and she’s getting tired. Week to week, we’re never quite sure if the next trip will be her last.

We don’t know exactly what’s next yet, but we’re working on a new plan behind the scenes. 👀

Our Kabritt is off to Montreal for the SIAL Cheese Monger Competition, representing the West Coast as 1 of 5 goat cheeses.
Safe travels, little wheel ! make us proud 🐐🧀

Origin of our Kabritt
Inspired by a mission trip to Haiti, our founder and renowned Canadian cheesemaker Debra Amrein Boyes named this cheese after the Haitian Creole word kabritt, meaning “goat.”

Over the years, this French mountain-style cheese has become a crowd favourite, with unique characteristics that set it apart.

Kabritt is aged between 6 months to 1 year, developing a dense, buttery texture with a moist, slightly chalky paste that melts into rich earthy flavours with gentle salt and tangy notes, all wrapped in a beautiful natural rind.

The Global Playground sells fair trade African & Indonesian jewelry.
