The Woodend Community Farmers' Market includes fresh local produce - fruit & vegetables, honey, eggs, organic breads, preserves, herbs & potted plants, teas, yummy foods, meats, live music, Home Produce Exchange & is proudly plastic bag free! The aim of this page is to provide a resource to support farmers and producers with a safe place to sell their product and for consumers who are interested in buying directly from the farmer. Any name calling, trolling and cyber bullying will not be tolerated. Whilst intelligent discussion is encouraged, which in turn will obviously lead to people disagreeing on certain topics, any posts where parties disagree must be expressed in a positive and constructive manner. An agree to disagree approach should be taken and not become personal. There will be no business shaming posts. It is hard enough to be in small business without negativity and reputation destroying social media posts being spread by the community. If you have a problem with a business it is suggested you contact them directly. Please remember the six pillars when posting -
Trustworthiness - is the information I provide truthful, honest and not misleading or deceptive? Respect - goes without saying. Be considerate of the feelings of others. Do not threaten or abuse others. Responsibility - think before you act. Consider what the consequences of your words will be. Be accountable for your actions and views. Fairness - play by the rules and be fair to others. Be open minded to others point of view. Caring - be kind and compassionate. Citizenship - we all live here, no matter how long we have been here we all have a vested interest in our town.

The Lancefield centre plantation is such a lovely location for a market. Pop it on your schedule for Saturday and buy some real food from real farmers.

๐Ÿ‘ When you choose to shop directly from local farmers and food producers, you are making a deliberate investment in food security to our region.ย

๐Ÿ’ธ Every dollar spent at a farmers market or farm gate keeps resources circulating within our region, strengthening the economic resilience of these small businesses that feed us.

๐Ÿค This direct connection aims to build a reliable and transparent food supply chainโ€”one potentially less vulnerable disruptions globally, price volatility, and long-distance transportation challenges.ย

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ By supporting those who work the land closest to home, we cultivate an agricultural system that is adaptable, sustainable, and rooted in the specific needs and strengths of our own landscape.

โญ Beyond immediate nourishment, this choice is a profound act of legacy-building for future generations.

๐Ÿ‘ถ Each purchase sustains not just a livelihood but a way of lifeโ€”the knowledge, stewardship, and care passed down through farming families.

๐Ÿ It aims to preserve arable land, protect biodiversity, and may ensure that children will inherit working farms.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ When we buy direct, we are in effect, voting for a future in which local agriculture thrives as a cultural and ecological heritage, gifting our descendants both the skills and the soil they will need to feed themselves.

๐Ÿค— See you this Saturday in Lancefield folks! 9-1 on the High Street.ย

๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿ” EGGS-CUSE MEโ€ฆ THEREโ€™S NO FUNNY BUSINESS HERE!๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

With the ACCC today alleging cartel and anti-competitive conduct involving some of Australiaโ€™s major egg producers, we thought it was a good time to check in on our local chook crew. ๐Ÿ‘€

And we can confirmโ€ฆ the only gang activity happening here is a bunch of chooks hanging out together! ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”

No secret meetings. No dodgy deals. No underworld egg-scapades. Just happy free-range hens, a local producer and fresh eggs travelling straight from the farm to YOU at the Woodend Farmers Market.

Thatโ€™s the beauty of buying local. You know who youโ€™re buying from, where your eggs come from, and youโ€™re supporting a real local producer in the process. โค๏ธ

So, if you like your eggs fresh, your supply chain short and your chook business strictly above board, you know where to find us!

Real food. Real faces. No barcodes.

From showcasing the best of our local and regional produce to championing sustainability, reducing waste and bringing people together, our market is about so much more than shopping. Itโ€™s about supporting local businesses, strengthening our community and creating a more sustainable future.

This revealing study that has been done by Pesticides Action Australia is just another great reason to support local growers, and better yet organic growers who sell directly to you at a farmers' market.
Sending a message to the big supermarkets is not enough, taking your business elsewhere will make a stronger impact.

๐Ÿ“ธ A quick note about photos at the Woodend Community Farmers Market

One of the things we love about market day is the atmosphere โ€” the people, colour, characters, food, stallholders, volunteers and community that come together each month.

We use photos to capture that atmosphere, promote the market and showcase the wonderful volunteers, stallholders and customers who make it happen.

You might appear in the background of a wide crowd shot โ€” and thatโ€™s generally okay. Thereโ€™s no blanket law in Australia preventing people from being photographed at public events where thereโ€™s no reasonable expectation of privacy.

If weโ€™d like to feature you specifically in a photograph, weโ€™ll ask first.

Our approach is simple: celebrate the market, respect peopleโ€™s privacy and tell the story of our community. โค๏ธ

So if you spot yourself, your friends, our volunteers or a familiar face in our market photos, we hope you enjoy being part of the story! ๐Ÿ“ธ๐ŸŒฟ
