My tip is if you don’t have perfectly draining soil then lift your dahlias!
We have raised beds on a clay base. I’ll be lifting our plants over the next few weeks and while I’ll wash and divide lots as I go, there’s no problem with leaving them with soil on in the shed for a while.

We’ll be lifting, dividing and talking all things dahlias in our June workshop. There’s still a few spots left- head over to our website if you’d like to join us (and take home a generous handful of tubers!)

I love this time of the year where we can take a bit more time to look back on what we’ve achieved and enjoyed doing around the farm.
Last week we sent out our last bouquet of blooms for the season… I found our first anemone flower this morning so we probably won’t be long without blooms! 😂
We’ve cut back our chrysanthemums and harvested the last of the celosia to make way for planting some of the trays of flowers we sowed at our seed staring workshop over the weekend.
We had such a great morning sharing ideas and getting our hands dirty and lots of laughs which I LOVE!
We have dahlia workshops coming up in June and seed workshops to come in spring- should be lots of fun 🤗
Visit our website to subscribe for farm updates and you can register for our workshops as they become available via the online Farm store

Time to pinch your snapdragons
Do you grow snapdragons for Spring?
Removing the top growing tip of young plants encourages your plant to branch out producing more flower stems. Although this will set flowering back by a few weeks it will reward you with more blooms! If you pot on your cuttings you will have even more flowers by doubling your plants.
Ideally pinch your snaps when they reach 7-10cm tall or snip just above the 3rd set of leaves.
Can’t wait to share our Spring flowers with you!

Snip snip!

Some of our favourite pink dahlias in the garden from this season. So many to choose from!
An absolute standout was Devon Salmon, bloomed all season with perfect attachment, long strong stems and was in almost every pink bunch we put together!
Glenmarc Royal gave us colour all season, Salmon Joy is the perfect pink and what’s not to love about Penhill Watermelon!
We also loved Florelie Flamingo and Florelie Antique but they got picked and bunched so quickly I don’t think I even got a picture of them 😂

What were your favs of the season??

We will have lots of pinks available for you if you’re keen to grow your own. Head over to our website to have a sneak peak of what we’ll have to share in October
