One of the best conversations we’ve seen on our local facebook group. Big shout out to our neighbours for starting the conversation about small businesses and why we can’t compete with the big guys. Shout out to all the small businesses in Thirroul, there is no shortage of passion and commitment to making our little town such a great place to live 💛

A family-run fermentation business with farming roots, a thoughtful approach to ingredients and a whole lot of love for good food.

They're current favourite is the EVOO Chimichurri Power Kraut, green, herby, tangy and finished with a little 🌶️ kick and extra virgin olive oil.

We stock their of Krauts, Kefir & Kimchi, come in and discover the range. 💚

Hey everyone!

I’m Lily, the new Social Media Intern at Flame Tree Community Co-op.

I’m from Austi and a first-year Business student at UTS, studying Marketing. I’m looking forward to getting some more experience while working with a business that’s so connected to the local community.

When I’m not at uni or at the Co-op, I’m usually getting a coffee from Black Market or looking through Vinnies Thirroul.

Over the next few months, I’ll be working on our social media and getting to know more of the people who make up the Co-op community. I’ve already started with a feature on Ellen, and I’m looking forward to sharing more stories from our volunteers, members and shoppers.
If you’d be interested in being featured in our upcoming ‘Meet’ series, send us a message on Instagram or Facebook.

Looking forward to sharing more of what’s happening around the Co-op

There are a few things we hear all the time… so we thought, why not actually bust some of these myths?

From “it’s too expensive” to “you have to buy in bulk” let’s get into it

And just a little reminder: Flame Tree is for everyone.
Whether you’re popping in for one or two things, doing your weekly shop, buying in bulk or just curious to see what we’re all about, you’re always welcome!

We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Ian and Hannah Campbell of Barambah Organics.

Barambah has been a valued part of the Flame Tree supplier range for many years.

Our thoughts are with the Campbell family, the Barambah team, their friends and the wider farming community at this incredibly difficult time.

Sending love and heartfelt condolences from all of us at Flame Tree

This week, we’re introducing you to Ellen, one of the directors here at Flame Tree Community Food Co-op!

We asked Ellen what she loves most about the co-op, and her answer sums up so much of what Flame Tree is about, reducing waste and making sustainable shopping simple.

From bringing in your empty jars and filling them with exactly what you need, to getting a little to try before committing to a bulk amount, there’s a way to shop that works for everyone. This week, we’re introducing you to Ellen, one of the directors here at Flame Tree Community Food Co-op!

We also asked Ellen about some of her favourite local businesses. When she’s not at Flame Tree, you’ll find her enjoying a coffee at Black Market, browsing for gifts at Collins booksellers, or grabbing some delicious Vietnamese food from NOM.

And what’s in Ellen’s Flame Tree basket? Some of her favourites include tamari almonds, puffed rice, dark chocolate licorice, h**p seeds, cinnamon, linseeds, Brazil nuts, goji berries, flour and Kangaroo Valley eggs - plus fresh leek and kale!

Thanks for sharing your local favourites with us, Ellen!

These meal replacement bars are seriously good!

They’ve recently been put under the microscope by a nutrition & dietetics student in our community, who gave them two thumbs up based on the great ingredients and macros.

No highly processed junk in these bars - just honest ingredients to fill the gap when you’re on the go.

*Great protein + fibre balance
*High in vitamin C (thanks to the Kakadu Plum)
*Solid macros for a convenient meal replacement
*Vegan protein source (faba bean)

We love the The Unexpected Guest made in Minto, award-winning, certified organic foods using native Australian ingredients!
