Let’s talk strawberries. 🍓
Over the past four weeks, finding strawberries that meet our quality standards has been a real challenge.
With the Victorian season coming to an end and Queensland only just getting underway, supply has been tight. On top of that, the relentless rain in northern growing regions has made production even more difficult.
When we say we sort through dozens of brands and thousands of punnets to find fruit worthy of our shelves, we genuinely mean it. Our goal is to stock strawberries that not only look great, taste great, but will also last in your fridge for more than a day.
It’s been a huge challenge, but we remain committed to finding the best product available and delivering the quality our customers expect.
While strawberries are currently expensive, we’re hardly making a dollar on them right now. At this stage, we’re continuing to stock them largely as a convenience for our customers.
The strawberry market is incredibly volatile, with prices changing daily due to weather conditions, seasonal transitions, and demand.
As soon as market conditions improve and prices come down, we can assure you that we will pass those savings directly on to you, our valued customers, just as we do across all of our fresh produce lines.
