In early days, when there were no access to modern means of transportation, DOKO was primarily used by people in rural villages of Nepal as a multi-purpose basket to transport goods - food supplies, water pots, poultry, small animals and at times, people unable to walk t

o the hospitals. The use of DOKO is also quite common in urban areas of Nepal, parts of Bhutan and Northern India. Today, DOKO still serves multiple purposes; from being used for fresh produce in local markets to a decor item in modern households.
