Everyone loves Snug Butcher+

Last night we celebrated the first batch of frozen cooked potato and pumpkin soup available in the new frozen meals section of the store with, you guessed it! A bowl of potato and pumpkin soup!

Now, I thought the beef lasagne was
unbeatable but after that bowl of terribly delicious pumpkin soup I’m not so sure.

Hannah, our resident certified chef is Vietnamese and very good at Vietnamese cooking and she worked as the head chef for years at Beaujangles in the city cooking Western food. She made a lot of delicious soups, quiches and lasagnes.

It was a good training ground for her on site food van at Snug Butcher+!

This is her pumpkin soup. It’s GF but don’t let that stop you!

Now available online and in store - Fresh home grown eggs for incubation $20 dozen - mixed colours - selection of Araucana (blue), Maran (Dark brown), Ancona (white), Olive Eggers (cross), Isa Browns (light brown) and Silver laced Wyandotte (white) aswell as Orpington, Barnevelder and pink! (We don’t know who is laying the pink eggs 🙂 with a range of Roosters of the same breeds.

We thought we’d have one ready in the shop to make it easy to grab while you’re already there!

Rachel gets up early every Sunday morning, tapes her P plates to the Ute and heads out to collect it from the growers.

She keeps it fresh for our customers which makes it look so good on display.

Some keeps better in the fridge, some lasts better out, some go in water, some don’t… there’s quite an art to it!

Rachel brings a balance to Snug Butcher+ - considering Harvey knows nothing about vegetables she is Yang to Harvey’s Yin!

And somehow she manages to pull off wide horizontal pink and white stripes with our stunning vertical striped red and white aprons.

‘You’ll see up my shorts from down there!’

Jarrod is somehow able to joke, smile and carry two at a time from the sky- blue interior of his truck on his weekly run from Wynyard.

‘Clang clang clang’ You can hear him from the other side of the shop as he hurtles down the ramp. It’s pretty impressive to watch and you’ve got to keep out of his way!

Jarrod tells me he’s the only one who does the delivery run around the whole of Tasmania.

There’s one nut that holds the blades to the body of a helicopter. 🚁 I’ve heard it referred to as the ‘Jesus’ nut.

Jarrod may be the Jesus nut of our whole operation, transporting meat from Tasmanian farms across Tasmania for Tasmanian butchers like ours.
