It’s hard to believe we will have a teenager in the house tomorrow. When we welcomed Max into the world, I got a new love for baking.

Watching their faces light up seeing what Mum has created, is one of the most rewarding parts of decorating. At times they have more belief in my ability than I do.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Woman’s Weekly Birthday cake, at the age of 4 Max was asking for extra tiers on his cakes 😅. Today their requests are more basketball and Jordan themed.

Here at Sweetlee HQ I’ve been a little quiet, spending time with family over the last month.

I’ve been blessed to have had my Gran in my life for 41 years. We farewelled the matriarch of the family in a beautiful service earlier this month. She has been a massive inspiration in my baking journey, with my earliest memories in the kitchen being shared with her.

Here she is pictured with my baby, Josh in the September holidays last year, teaching him how to make her famous Apple Cake. Growing up I have fond memories of holidays with Gran, Grandpa and Rod.

Following her service, Josh was a little ray of sunshine, delighting in the fact that whilst funerals are sad, the day focused on celebrating the wonderful life and family Gran had created.

I’ve enjoyed being back in the kitchen prepping for this weekend. Can’t wait to share with you all.
