Organic-loving, herb-curious, food-passionate people — we'd love to hear from you!

Christmas at Grandpa's Garden Organics is our busiest time of year, and we're looking for some great people to join our team NOW, so there's plenty of time to learn the ropes and be ready for the Christmas rush.

We're looking for reliable, capable and enthusiastic people who share our passion for good food, natural health and organic living.

ARE YOU OUR KIND OF PERSON?

- You have a genuine love of REAL food, beautiful organic produce and healthy eating.
- You're interested in herbs, natural health, nutrition and wellness.
- You're passionate about organic living, sustainability and doing things a little differently.
- You're a quick learner, have good common sense, can think on your feet and use your initiative.
- You enjoy working with people, have great customer service skills and are happy to pitch in wherever needed.
- You're dependable, adaptable and comfortable working in a busy retail environment.

We're recruiting casual staff to begin training immediately, with work available in the lead-up to Christmas and throughout the busy holiday season.

Some shifts will be rostered in advance, while others may be offered at short notice when things get particularly busy.

Flexibility, reliability and a willingness to step up when needed are really important to us.

In return, you'll be part of a friendly, knowledgeable and hardworking team in a workplace that's a little different from your average supermarket.

INTERESTED? DON'T WAIT UNTIL CHRISTMAS!

We'd love to meet you now.

Drop into Grandpa's Garden Organics in Narooma with your résumé, or send us an email introducing yourself and tell us a little about your experience, interests and availability. You'll find us at the mid-town traffic lights, and on email at [email protected].

At Grandpa’s Garden Organics, we’re thinking of all the grandpas, dads and father figures who show us what love looks like — often in the quietest of ways.

They are the ones who teach us how to plant a seed, catch a fish, fix the broken stuff, make the perfect cup of coffee, tell a familiar story, lend a steady hand, or simply make us feel safe and seen.

For many, today is a time to celebrate the fathers and grandfathers still beside us. For others, it can bring a tender ache: a chair left empty, a voice remembered, a recipe passed down, or a garden grown from wisdom shared long ago.

When someone we love passes, their light does not disappear. It lives on in every lesson we carry forward, every kindness we offer, every child or young person we encourage, and every new flame we help to light in the world.

To all fathers, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles, carers, mentors, chosen family and father figures — thank you. And to everyone remembering someone they love today, we are holding space for you.

May we keep their warmth growing, their stories alive, and their light shining in all that comes next.

Happy Father's Day from all at Grandpa’s Garden Organics.

🌿 How to Brew the Perfect Infusion 🌿

Are you rushing your herbal tea? You might be leaving the best benefits in the mug.

In herbalism, there’s a real difference between a quick “tea” and a true **medicinal infusion** — and it comes down to time, intention, and extraction.

A quick tea is often just a few minutes in hot water — lovely for flavour, but not always enough to fully draw out the deeper minerals and plant constituents we rely on for nourishment.

A **true infusion**, however, is something slower and more intentional.

✨ Steep your herbs for 10–15 minutes
✨ Always cover your cup or teapot with a lid
✨ This helps trap the volatile oils (the plant’s most aromatic and therapeutic compounds)
✨ Give the plant time to fully release its mineral and medicinal goodness

Think of it as letting the plant *speak fully*, not just whisper.

Leafy and mineral-rich herbs like nettle, lemon balm, and oatstraw especially benefit from this longer steep — turning a simple cup of tea into a deeply nourishing daily tonic.

Slow down. Cover your cup. Let the medicine steep.

👉 Try it with your next brew and notice the difference.

🌿 Meet the Shelf: Organic Marshmallow 🌿

Today we’re opening one of the most soothing and quietly powerful herbs in the apothecary: Marshmallow.

Not the sugary treat — but the soft, cooling, deeply restorative plant known for its incredible ability to soothe dryness and gently coat and comfort the body from within.

Marshmallow comes to us in three beautiful forms: leaf, root, and powder — each offering its own kind of gentle support.

The **leaf** is soft and cooling, traditionally used to support dry, irritated tissues and bring gentle hydration to the system. It’s often enjoyed as a tea infusion, especially when you want something light, soothing, and demulcent.

The **root** is where Marshmallow truly shines. Rich in mucilage, it becomes silky and thick when infused in water, creating a deeply soothing remedy for the throat, gut, and dry tissues. A cold overnight infusion is the traditional way to draw out its full magic. Its a great affordable alternative to Slippery Elm.

The **powder** is wonderfully versatile — it can be stirred into warm preparations, blended into herbal gruels, or used in DIY skincare preparations like soothing face masks and poultices.

There is something deeply gentle about Marshmallow — a plant that doesn’t push or stimulate, but instead restores softness where the body needs it most especially in the cooler drier months of late autumn and winter.

We keep our Marshmallow leaf, root, and powder loose, organic, and ready for everyday apothecary rituals, from soothing teas to homemade remedies.

🌿 Meet the Shelf: Organic Tulsi 🌿

Today we’re turning to one of the most revered calming herbs in the apothecary: Tulsi.

Often called Holy Basil, Tulsi has been treasured in traditional herbal systems for centuries as a deeply balancing plant for the mind and body. Known for its gentle yet steady way of supporting the nervous system, it is one of those herbs many people reach for when life feels full, fast, or overwhelming.

As the pace of the year shifts, Tulsi offers a quiet kind of support — helping to ease stress, soften tension, and encourage a sense of inner steadiness. It’s often used as a daily tonic herb for those wanting to feel more grounded through emotional or seasonal change.

Tulsi is naturally aromatic and uplifting, with a flavour that is both earthy and slightly sweet.

Enjoy it as a simple tea on its own, or blend it with other herbs like lemon balm or ginger for a soothing daily ritual. It also works beautifully in evening wind-down blends, or as a calming cup during the day when your nervous system needs a little space to settle.

There is something deeply reassuring about Tulsi — a herb that doesn’t sedate or overwhelm, but gently brings you back into balance.

We keep our Tulsi vibrant, fragrant, always organic and ready for daily cups of calm as we move through the season.
