Part I
Who is ultimately responsible for your health?
Have you given serious thought about how responsible are you about your state of health, wellness, and well-being?
Let’s first define what the conventional meaning of health, wellness, and well-being.
Health-the state of being free from illness or injury.
"he was restored to health"
Wellness-the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal.
Well-being-the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.
Cure-relieve (a person or animal) of the symptoms of a disease or condition.
“he was cured of the disease”
Heal-cause (a wound, injury, or person) to become sound or healthy again.
Healthy-in a good physical or mental condition; in good health.
Heal originates from Whole or Total. This means one is experiencing Wholeness as opposed to fragmentation disruption, dispersion dysfunction.
To heal, one must remove the original causes for the disruption, dispersion, and fragmentation.
As you can see there are nuances to the meaning of health, wellness, well-being.
It’s a path or process that must start with a clear view and understanding of who is responsible for your state of Ultimate Well-being
Health>Wellness > Well-being.
What your intention should be is to take your health from a state of being free from disease to a state Wellness where you have been free of disease or recovered and now striving to maintain and enhance health.
In the Wellness phase you are taking responsibility for your health and taking positive actions to remove causes that made you ill in the past.
Getting to know common causes or factors that impact or body is the beginning.
This is the phase where you need to invest in your wellness. What are the right conditions you need to create to prevent effects of past actions (causes) that can bring on negative effects or diseases and symptoms?
These causes maybe alcohol, smoking, recreational drugs, va**ng, high sugar, high carbohydrate foods, highly processed food with polyunsaturated seed oils, and medications for various conditions.
Most have health insurance but don’t focus on investing on prevention of disease and moving into Wellness.
When you have achieved a state of Wellness, next phase of attaining Well-being can start.
This requires further investment of time, energy, and even a percentage of your income dedicating to this process.
During this phase you need to understand how the 4 foundations influence our state of health and wellness.
There are four foundations that influence our health, wellness, and well-being.
The first foundation is nutrients that nourish our body.
•Nutrition- Food, water, supplements, and air as the fundamentals and medicines as needed to overcome diseases.
Second foundation is Environment
•Environment- Weather, seasons, temperature, humidity, light.
Third Foundation is Mind
•Mind-Mental states, emotions have a significant impact on us.
Fourth is the Genergetics based on law of causality.
•Energetic Framework-Inherited physical and mental patterns, habits behaviours and genetics and Genergetics.
Borrowing Einstein’s famous equation and giving it a twist..
E=MC2
Energetic Foundation=Material Energy Field •Consciousness(Mental Field)2 (perception of duality)
To return to total well-being and oneness, unity or whole from a state of Duality which causes a polarity between like-dislike, wanting-aversion, desire-anger, greed-hatred.
Well-being is when both mental and physical realities are in Harmony and Balance.
How can one achieve this?
Part II
To answer the question, who is responsible for your health we need to understand some fundamental concepts on why we place responsibility in other’s hands be it patents, spouse, children, friends, doctors, healers, priests, spiritual teachers and so on.
To change our mind or the 3rd Foundation and be able to influence the other 3 foundations, one needs knowledge leading to wisdom.
This requires certain shifts in one's perception.
Let’s investigate first how we react to the external world.
Example 1
Think of an occasion someone spoke to you in a manner displeasing to you.
When you heard someone speak to you in a condescending manner, or with annoyance or anger etc.
Who is really hearing the words?
What are you reacting to?
Who are you reacting to?
Who is getting affected?
These are the questions you need to ask yourself to investigate deeply what you felt, how long it took to let go of the reaction and memory.
While you contemplate on those questions, lets look deeper into the 4 foundations influencing your well-being.
Illness or wellness depends on these foundations acting as causes.
Four Foundations
1. Nutriment-Food, Water, Air, vitamins, supplements, herbs, medicines..
If these are pure, then the body responds with good health.
If impure, low quality, and toxic, body responds with illness.
2. Environment-Weather, Seasons, Humidity, etc.. If fair and comfortable these are conducive to healing..
And opposite is also true..
Now with our environment getting polluted with toxic air, EMR, WiFi, microbes etc, our bodies becomes toxic. Our internal environment becomes polluted and we get sick.
3. Mind-Our consciousness, mental state, emotions directly and powerfully impact the body. Positive wholesome emotions such friendliness, kindness, caring, compassion, joy, and contentment create harmony. When your mind is filled with these wholesome emotions, body feels light, blissful, and calm.
Negative emotions including anger, sadness, craving, greed, envy, jealousy, irritation, annoyance, anger, hatred immediately cause disruptive effects on your body.
It is easy to observe how the body reacts to anger. Facial expression changes, colour changes, heart rate and blood pressure increases, and muscles start trembling and shaking.
In healing it is crucial to make a shift in perception.
This shift in perception occurs when you answer the questions in example 1.
In the case of hearing, all you truly heard is sound vibrations entering your ear impinging on your ear-drum creating a vibrational change in the material structure.
Your ear, ear drum, sound vibrations moving via air, air, and the mouth that's moving to create the sounds DO NOT know what these sound vibrations imply. It is a very "impersonal" process involving two physical realities manifesting as you and other.
However, when you hear the sound vibrations, your mind, like a wave flows to your ear and receives the vibrational pattern. Then within an extremely short time the sound pattern is matched with YOUR past stored patterns.
By stringing them together a thought is formed.
Depending on your past experience with people speaking to you harshly, criticizing, obnoxious with a tone of voice unpleasant and so on has created many unpleasant memories.
If you truly investigate this process, you will realize that you are reacting or re-acting according to past scripts, programs, and conditioning you have experienced and stored in your data-base or memory base.
Since we cannot control our thoughts nor those of others, realization arises that the only one who is suffering is you.
We have suffering because we take things "personally".
From birth we start accumulating data (memories) and slowly these information packages reinforce and become personality traits, habits, and behaviours.
With bigger personalities, we develop stronger expectations.
Expectations such as you have to be treated according to your liking in such and such a way. And when these expectation aren't fulfilled, who suffers? Only you suffer.
The person who verbally abused or upset you, is only a trigger for you own past to surface.
Understanding this helps us to quickly "let go" of the past and start afresh.
If you "expect" apologies, forgiveness, gratitude, praise, you are living in the world of illusion and misperceptions that create Duality.
Duality separates you from the whole, state of unity. Duality arises as soon as the concept of I, me, and mine and expectations that arise due to our ego based "Personality".
These habits and behaviours pull you in the direction of like or opposite-dislike, wanting -not wanting, attachment-aversion, craving-anger, greed-hatred.
All these emotions instantly pollute your mind and body.
When the wise realize this self-perpetuating suffering, they let go and return to Equanimity, Balance, Friendliness, Caring, Kindness, Compassion, Joy, and Contentment.
These positive mental states uplift, rejuvenate, and nourish the body.
Getting back to “who is responsible for your health?”, you may see that you and you alone are responsible.
That means you respond to the impulses, vibrational information entering our mind via the 5 sense organs.
You, with your wisdom, can stop re-acting but respond by taking “responsibility”. Understanding the mechanisms behind our thought process, we can pause when pleasant or unpleasant stimuli enter the mind. Observe or initial reaction.
How our past influence the perception of the present moment impulse.
Be it a visual object (a beautiful scene, flower, house, car, person..) or unpleasant vision (something disgusting, ugly, disturbing) or sound, taste, smell or touch, you will have the power to continue with the response or let go.
In the case of an illness, is the bacterium or virus the cause? Yes if you experience fever, body aches, headaches you can hold the microbe responsible for the physical discomfort and pain.
But if you become angry, upset, sad, helpless, overwhelmed, that is self-generated by re-acting.
This brings to mind Empaths who say they are affected by others.
They say if they come across some who has a headache, they can feel and they suffer.
When in the presence of a highly stressed, agitated, sad, terrified, anxious or depressed person, they experience the others suffering.
This maybe true as some of us can be very sensitive to subtle energy.
But, who is really responsible for your pain and suffering in such cases?
If you are an empath do you need to feel the other’s pain and suffer?
Or is there a better more skilful way?
When you feel someone or yourself in pain, distress, or ill, or intrinsic nature is to feel compassion or the inner need to help ease the pain and suffering.
However, the challenge most of us not having the knowledge and insight into the mechanism of the mind fall prey to pity, self-pity, sadness, anger, blame etc.
This then feels as if you have empathy and is taking on the other’s pain.
True compassion is the ability to have strong Mindfulness to realize your mind has left compassion and now spiralling down a negative path that depletes energy.
If one realizes the instant compassion shift to pity or sadness, you can take positive action to help yourself or other.
Therefore, taking 100% responsibility for your health is being aware of the way our mind works, develop strong Mindfulness and Tranquillity to assess situations, diagnoses, and advice and respond to each situation with wisdom.
I will discuss the Fourth Foundation in the future. It is subtle and profound concept.
