Being a beekeeper has given me such a deep appreciation for these tiny little creatures. Bees do so much more than make honey — they keep our gardens blooming, our food growing, and our world alive.

There’s something really special about standing near a hive and watching thousands of bees work together with purpose. They’ve taught me patience, respect for nature, and just how important the small things can be.

Please plant flowers, support local honey, and look after our pollinators — the world truly needs bees 💛

we are having a slight increase in price for our tubs and squeeze’s

we have kept our prices low and the same for 2 years now and have absorbed some of the price increases of things we have to purchase like tubs and stickers when they have gone up slowly but it has come to a point we can’t afford to do that anymore
1kg buckets will be $12
&
500g squeezes will be $8

but HAPPY NEW YEARS!
we have had a slow start to the new year here at TLB , just enjoying some family time before all the hustle and bustle of a new year starts.

but we wanted to thank each and everyone who supported us in 2025 by buying honey and hampers from us
you guys mean the world to us as a small business
all the long hrs of working bees , spinning and bottling honey and all the little details that go into each product you buy is worth it when we receive the amazing feedback from you guys

my spinning arm is already bulking up 💪🏼🤣 maybe santa might bring me a electric spinner 😆😉

did my fortnightly hive check yesterday at home and found some queen cells in one of our hives.
when a hive is full of honey and brood ( baby bee’s) and pollen and conditions are perfect in the hive, the workers decide right everything is perfect here let’s find a new home to keen expanding .
so they will make up to 10 new queens in preparation for swarming.

when the hive swarms the bees load up on honey to give them energy for a few days and then get the current queen and leave. i’ve witnessed a few swarms and it’s quiet a interesting thing to watch.
after some of the hive have left, the first of these queen cells will hatch then she will go and kill the others that come out making her the ruling queen 👸
after that she will mature for 7 days then go on a mating flight and come back and few days later start her royal duty of laying eggs and growing the hive again.

you can prevent this from happening sometimes by “splitting” the hive and making a new hive also known as a man made swarm
or giving them more room so they don’t feel like they have to expand, i wasn’t quick enough to catch this hive before they decided to swarm
so i’m going to let them do their thing as they know best 😊💛🐝

Having a go at a solar wax melter on some capping from yesterday’s harvest and it’s working 🙌🏻
mise well take advantage of this hot nth qld sun and also i can get so much other stuff done while it happens 😊💛

🍯 spring honey 2025🍯
because i’m so impatient and couldn’t wait to taste the flavours the girls have been bringing in lately i did a mini rob yesterday, it did not disappoint 🤤
this batch has been our darkest yet with a fruity caramel flavour i’ve not tasted anything like it 😍💛
