At Hawthorne Hill Farm, our mission is to grow and make delicious food with love, passion and a focus on quality. We love living and working on our little farm and would love to share our journey. It's been about 5 years since we came to live in Tasmania and we've come an awfully long way in that time. The farm was quite run down when we arrived. There were weeds and grass up to our chests and a l

ot of the fences were falling over. Things have changed a lot! The paddocks are in much better shape, the trees are producing some lovely fruit and the vegetable patches seem unstoppable. There are still a few wobbly fences, though... There's still a lot to do. We've developed our signature product - our Hawthorne Paste - using hawthorne bushes that were already growing on the property. The success of the Hawthorne Paste has already outgrown our ability to produce berries on the farm. We're filling the gap by foraging in hedgerows throughout the North East of Tasmania, but the long term solution is to plant an orchard. We've started this process and by spring this year, we should have about 500 happy little hawthorne bushes pushing their way up to the light.

Our Story

At Hawthorne Hill Farm, we have been making delicious Sugar Free products since 2013. What began as Mary’s mission to make tasty treats which her diabetic Father could enjoy has become our full time pursuit.

We use beautiful Tasmanian fruit and Australian citrus to create 16 varieties of jam, relish, spread, paste and marmalade. To keep the sugar and carbs out, we put xylitol in! Xylitol is a great, all natural sweetener that has no back palate bitterness or funny aftertaste. It performs beautifully in Mary’s recipes and has a light sweetness that dissipates quickly, unlike the cloying sweetness of cane sugar. Our creations contain no added colours, flavours or preservatives and are all dairy free, gluten free and egg free. They’re suitable for vegetarians, vegans, diabetics or anyone who loves a sweet treat, but is trying to lower their intake of sugar and carbs. Everything is made by hand, in small batches in our council approved home kitchen. We even print our own labels and apply them by hand!
