Blue Mountains Food Co-op Proudly community-owned since 1981. At the Blue Mountains Food Co-op, we sell beautiful fresh food at fair prices that don’t cost the earth.

We’re a not-for-profit food co-op connecting people with fresh, local, and organic food - grown with care, shared with purpose. We are owned and run by our members and our shop is open 7 days a week, in the heart of Katoomba. By becoming a member you can save 10% on your shopping or you can just come in and shop at our regular fair prices. We sell certified organic and biodynamic fresh fruit and v

egetables, chemical free local produce, bulk wholefoods, foods for special dietary needs. We also sell a wide range of eco-friendly cleaning products, natural personal care products and ethical and/or local giftware.

Sometimes supporting alternative, community-orientated stores is more expensive but not always! 🫛

Here are just a few of the things you can get cheaper at members’ prices at the Co-op!

The Co-op is a not-for-profit. In other words our mark up is calculated to keep prices as low as possible while ensuring the longevity of our organisation and enabling us to provide support to other community groups

Supporting us keeps money in the community and ensures we can keep providing an alternative to big chain stores

Plus many of our products come without the plastic packaging you’ll find elsewhere! As we don’t sell our produce or our bulk items in plastic, you can also get the perfect amount you need and reduce food waste

Note: Supermarket prices are the lowest suitable alternative we could find, based on the prices online of the major Australian supermarkets. Prices vary! These are accurate as of June 10 2026

A little introduction (or reminder!) to buying bulk goods at the Co-op 🫘

1) Pick your container 🫙
Bring your own or grab one in-store! We sell jars and paper bags for a small cost, otherwise choose one of our free recycled jars donated by members, sanitised and weighed by our volunteers

2) Weigh your container ⚖️
Use the scales near the sink or nut butter machines, then write the weight on your container

3) Choose your product 🖊️
Write the product code on your bag or container

4) Fill up 🥄
Take as much or as little as you need. Utensils and jugs are available around the shop

Some products have their own tricks - household liquids have pumps and fridge goods are easiest to dispense near the sink. If you're unsure, just ask for help!

Please be mindful of reducing waste! Overflow can be left in a jug and handed to a staff member provided it has only touched the jug or a new paper bag

5) Clean up 🧹
Mess happens sometimes! If something spills, please let a staff member know so we can keep the shop safe. There's a sink, paper towel, dishcloths and dustpans available for clean-ups

6) Head to the counter 🛒
No need to weigh your items again - staff tare your container at the till

Our skincare selection is quite extensive! Some of the products we love include everyday skincare, tallow creams, the range or hair and facial oil

The Edible Garden Trail is back! 🌱

An annual celebration of homegrown food and local produce, this year the Trail will be happening over the weekend of the 14th and 15th of November 🪏

We are also excited to announce that this is the first ever Blue Mountains Edible Garden Trail to be themed! The 2026 Trail includes a special focus on containers & challenging spaces 🪴

From local to vegan to 100% cacao, we have chocolatey options for everyone. And this Easter, we have even more, limited-time goodies!

For our loco-lovers, we have the deliciously luxurious Loco Love Cosmic Chocolate Eggs, in either Hazelnut Heaven, Salted Caramel or Coconut Dream.

If you love Spencer chocolate, we have little bunnies in jars next to the register. Plus, get 10 bunnies (same flavour) and enjoy 10% off!

For something extra cute, we have Belgian Delights big bunnies in milk and dark, as well as their variety 4 pack.

Chocolate not your thing? As usual, we also have our colourful, individually-wrapped mini eggs from The Carob Kitchen, as well as our regular carob bar range.

For durability and organisation, we have a range of lunchboxes and containers from Ever Eco made from stainless steel. Insulate your food with 4myearth lunch bags 🍱

We also have more flexible and plastic-free packing options! 4myearth food bags and pockets are perfect sandwich bag alternatives and Honeybee Wraps beeswax wraps may be used instead of cling film 🌯

Organic and local fruit and veg make the best snacks for little tummies and as always, we have plenty of fresh produce! 🍇🍐🥕

For other easy-to-pack snacks, we have a range of bars, crackers and nibbles. Many options are nutritious, nut-free* and delicious! The Co-op is looking for more casual shop assistants to join our committed team! Our ideal candidate will be friendly and helpful, committed to providing great customer service in a busy retail environment, and familiar with organic and natural food products

Previous retail experience will be highly regarded,
specifically experience with fresh produce/food and store opening and closing procedures

3 days a week availability and flexibility is essential

A job at the Blue Mountains Food Co-op provides the opportunity to work in a friendly and welcoming environment, while also allowing you to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of your community
