If you have a kitchen gardener, cook, plant nerd or reader who enjoys meandering down windy pathways in your life, they might enjoy my book.

Broccoli and Other Love Stories tells of how I met, learned to grow and cook, then fell in love with, the food plants we grow in our diverse market garden.

I tell the stories of dozens of plants, arranged by botanical families, so that you can see the links between them. You can learn where they come from culturally and geographically, the missteps and triumphs we’ve gone through while getting to know them in the garden, and, most importantly, how to make use of them in the kitchen.

Our dear friend, gifted chef and photographer, took the photographs, making everything look beautiful.

If you’d like a personally signed copy I’ll be at with Matt this Saturday from 10.30 until 12.30 this Saturday, or you can send me a DM to arrange your message and pick-up at market or our roadside stall.

We’ll also have many of the seeds and seedlings so you can grow-along as you read.

The poky sticks in the second picture are one of my favourite festive gifts to make, and a delicious way to enjoy edible flowers. The recipe is one of many in the book and there is still time to sugar some flowers, melt chocolate and play in the kitchen.

We’ll also have Matt’s preserves and hampers, seeds, a ridiculous variety of obscure and classic edible plants, soil tonics and more.

If you arrive early at the parking is easy (and free!)and there are no crowds, and our Neika roadside stall is perhaps the quietest festive shopping location around. 💚

We’re all packed for tomorrow and marigolds and tomatoes are yours for the planting!

We find that flowering plants amongst our tomatoes ward off pests and make us smile.

We have 43 varieties of tomatoes onboard, tomatillos, zucchini, cucumbers, pumpkins, some wee basil seedlings, perennial vegetables, herbs, edible flowers and one lonely variety of dye plant - some little madder divisions.

Purslane, Sichuan buttons, French tarragon, leaf celery, cowslips, sunflowers, minari, wasabi, caigua, lovage, parsley, dill, chervil, heartsease, calendula, summer savoury and many, many more beautiful and delicious plants, with more on the way in the coming weeks.

Thank you so much to Salamanca Market for sharing our show-week tomato excitement. We've been feeding, labelling and talking to our tomato plants all day so they'll be at their best for market this weekend and well into November, along with a wonderful selection of other kitchen garden good things.

22/10/2025

The first tomatoes are in the roadside stall and being sorted for Salamanca Market on Saturday.

We’ll be adding many more varieties through the day today and will have them for the next few weeks, so don’t rush if your garden is chilly!

Matt is at Salamanca with the first of the tomatoes, waaay too many varieties of zucchini, perennial and annual herbs, edible flowers that will bring beneficial insects to protect your crops and many more plants, seeds, preserves along with my book to hopefully provide inspiration and my brand of gentle, learn-by-doing garden guidance.

This weeks list is below, and there are at least 30 more varieties that will be ready next week for your Show Day needs, and still more after that. The cool, windy weather has made the peppers and eggplants slow, but I’ll list them as they become ready.

Our dear community suffered a terrible loss recently, and while the garden is a balm for our broken hearts, we will be busy and I’d be very grateful to keep correspondence to the minimum, so if you receive a late, or copy-paste reply from us I hope you understand.

Unfortunately we’ll be away from tomorrow.

The roadside stall will be open with a small selection of seeds, preserves and seedlings.

We’ll be offline the next few days.

But we’re expecting the first of the tomatoes to be ready on Saturday the 11th along with a lots of wonderful, edible summer annuals and perennials.

They’re here!

The 2025 certified seed potatoes have arrived. Matt will have them at Salamanca tomorrow, along with a huge selection of seeds, preserves, produce and copies of my book.

We sadly have no coloured flesh varieties this year. But we do have a terrific mix of chippers, roasters, mashers, boilers and, my favourite, new salad potatoes.

It's time. Tonight at 7pm we're opening up for seed sales, so that you can have as much fun in your garden and kitchen as we do!
https://www.provenancegrowers.com.au/retail-shop

We've been growing, tasting, culling and observing, then snipping, drying, digging, threshing, winnowing and testing. All of the most energetic seed, delicious and interesting varieties from last season will be available.

A few things to note:
🥦Please only select 'click and collect' or 'local pickup' if you can come to our farm gate at Neika or Salamanca Market on a Saturday.
🍅We can only send things to QLD, VIC, NSW and SA and Canberra, no overseas WA or NT orders can be sent.
🥒We have a limited amount of some things, but plenty of most - our stock levels suffered a little this season as I was a bit distracted sending my book into the world last spring. Mashua is limited to one pack per person and I'll automatically refund multiples.
🥦🩷Broccoli and Other Love Stories, the book where I share how I met, fell in love with and learned to grow and cook the plants you find on here, and more, will be available for mail order, please add a note with the details if you'd like your copy signed. Or please order it from your local book shop, I love book shops and want them to thrive!
🌶If you're local you can skip the webshop and send us your shopping list from the site for Neika or Salamanca collection.
We post orders on Mondays, and Auspost can be quite slow, so if you order on a Tuesday please don't fret too early, last season we had dozens of enquiries about late postage and only one was actually lost. Auspost tracking only works for us on big packages where you provide your phone number.

I'd best get packing and counting, see you at 7 tonight!

2025 seed and tuber sales!

I know, you’re snuggled up with cups of tea dreaming of spring and planning your gardens. And here we are, swanning off to the east coast and neglecting to get the website listings up so you can include some of our babies in your plans. But I’m on it now!

Every seed batch has been cleaned and tested, the last of the oca is being dug today so we can dry and cure them to be sure they ship soundly. I’m headed out to the nursery now to see what sleeping wonders I can bare-root and offer for your gardening pleasure.

That is the fun part.

We are also not that great at tech, so there are challenging times at the laptop and printer, and of course our internet is spectacularly slow - just what you need when you’re uploading photos…..

But gosh it’s exciting knowing every little life form - seed, bulb or tuber - I’m preparing to pack has the potential to grow, multiply and feed your community in perpetuity.

I reckon I’ll be ready to open for sales by the weekend, watch this space for a countdown or click the link in our bio and sign up for the newsletter and I’ll email you the night before we open.

I can’t hold individual orders unfortunately, it’s a first-come thing, and I’m rationing the mashua to make sure as many of you as possible can have some.

Best get to it!! 🌿
