More than 70 years ago, the Boks family brought their traditional Dutch butchery and smoking skills to Tasmania, laying the foundation for what would become BOKS Bacon.

Today, Marcus and Rick Boks proudly carry that legacy forward.

🥓 OUR STORY BEGAN IN THE 1950s 🥓

Long before BOKS Bacon became a Tasmanian favourite, the Boks family were butchers and smallgoods makers in Holland.

In 1951, Johannes Franciscus Andreas Boks emigrated to Australia with his son and settled in Cygnet, in Tasmania’s beautiful Huon Valley. Armed with generations of knowledge, a passion for quality, and traditional family recipes, they opened a small butcher shop and began what would become the BOKS Bacon legacy.

More than 70 years later, we’re still proudly making bacon the same way – with dedication to quality, traditional methods, and great taste.

From a small family butcher shop to tables across Australia, our commitment remains unchanged.

Rick and Sean took Boks Bacon up to Sydney for the Direct to Store Expo. 🥓

Two Tasmanian blokes, a few packs of proper bacon, and plenty of good conversations.

It was great meeting people from all around Australia and letting them taste what traditional wood smoked bacon is supposed to be like.

From our award-winning PURE Bacon to the old Dutch family recipes we still use today, the response was unreal.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the stand for a chat, a sample, or to learn a bit more about what we do down here in Tasmania.
