Plummers Pick Your Own

🌸🍒 Cherry Blossom Update! 🍒🌸

The cherry trees are looking absolutely beautiful this year!🌸

We’ve got some fantastic blossom across the orchard, which is looking very promising for a great cherry crop. 🤞🍒

Now we just need the weather to play its part! ☀️🌧️

Fingers crossed for a bumper cherry season! 🍒❤️

Things are starting to get busy in the orchard again 🍒🍎

We’re getting the cherries pruned before bud swell, hopefully setting them up to grow into nice strong trees over the next few years. Big thanks to old man Plummer (Ian) for lending a hand 😂

We’ve also been doing a bit of work on the apples. These trees were originally Fuji, but about 8 years ago we grafted them over to another variety. Since starting Pick Your Own, Fuji have become really popular, so we’re trying to turn some of them back into Fuji trees.

We’ve made cuts in the trunks to encourage the original Fuji to shoot again, and the girls had the fun job of following along and painting the cuts… that’s why we have kids, isn’t it? 🤔😂

If all goes to plan, we should be picking Fuji apples from them in 2–3 years, rather than waiting around 4 years for newly planted trees to get going.

Always something happening in the orchard! 🍎🍒

We got to meet these little cutie pies last night. 🥹🐑 Who knows… one of these little fluff balls might just end up calling Plummer’s Pick Your Own home. 🤔🤷🏽‍♀️

Woke up to a winter wonderland this morning ❄️🥶 Frost as far as the eye could see, and even the animals had a dusting! Safe to say it was a chilly start to the day, but what an absolute cracker of a day it turned into! ☀️

Went to a friend’s place to pick up a couple of jumpers… and somehow came home with an 11-day-old orphan lamb. 🤷‍♀️🐑

Everyone, meet Oakley. ❤️ We have a feeling she’s going to fit right in around here. alistone00 Adam Stone
