The girls are absolutely loving their new home! 🌱🐔

The Pangola grass is a little taller than is ideal for chicken management, so we’ve been mowing pathways and sections for them to explore. But, as usual, the hens have their own ideas!

Instead of sticking to the mowed areas, they’ve been busy creating their own little tunnels through the long grass. One minute it looks like there isn’t a chicken in sight, and the next, a little head pops up out of nowhere 😂

It’s been so much fun watching them settle in and explore every corner of their new paddock. Safe to say the move has been a big success so far!

We definitely do NOT have any sets of twins on the ground this season 🙃🤣

Yet somehow one very cheeky little speckle has decided another mum’s milk bar looked better than his own and now we keep catching these two convincing the same poor cow she’s raising twins 🤦🏻‍♀️🐄🐂🐂

Safe to say she’s a very patient mumma!

We have absolutely loved reading through everyone’s name suggestions for our newest little speckle boy. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to comment, message and help us choose a name. There were so many beautiful, creative and earthy suggestions and we genuinely enjoyed considering every single one of them.

After a lot of thought, we have officially decided on the name…

✨ SFF X02 Alpine ✨

We felt Alpine suited him perfectly. His soft white coat with those deepening dark speckles and earthy markings reminded us of rugged mountain landscapes and alpine terrain. It also feels especially fitting as he was born while I was away trekking through the mountains of the Kokoda Trail, making the name feel even more meaningful to us.

We are very excited to watch this handsome little fellow grow and see how his colouring develops over time.

Thank you all again for being part of these special moments with us and helping make them even more memorable. Now it’s time to start warming up those creative minds again because next season’s calf drop will be all about the letter B names 🤎🐂🌿
