Last night was moving day! 🐔🚜

The full exterior poultry netting fence line was packed up and moved to a brand-new section of paddock, with all the girls safely tucked inside their pen while the whole setup made the move.

They’ll spend the next couple of weeks here, with their pen being moved roughly every second night within the electric fen line.

Why?

Fresh grass for grazing, and a nice even spread of chicken manure across the paddock rather than letting the girls concentrate all their “fertiliser” in one spot.

They tend to stay pretty close to the pen anyway, where they’ve got their shade, protection, food and water, so moving the pen regularly means they get fresh ground without having to trek halfway across the paddock.

Meanwhile, the section they’ve just left is officially in lockdown. 🔒🌱

No chickens. No scratching. No enthusiastic manure distribution.

Just some well-earned time to rest and regenerate before it gets its next turn.

For now, the girls are busy exploring their new digs and settling into their temporary address.

Because apparently even chickens like a change of scenery. 🐔😂

🥚 WHAT. AN. EGG. 😂

Today’s egg department decided to get a little carried away…

115g.

Yep. One single egg weighing 115g. 😳

For comparison, your average egg is around 60g, so this absolute unit is nearly TWICE the size.

And just to keep things interesting, today’s smallest egg weighed in at a dainty little 25.08g.

Put them side by side and it looks like one of them has been hitting the gym. 😂

Then came the big reveal…

We cracked open the 115g monster expecting some sort of yolk jackpot.

Two yolks. 🍳🍳

But here’s the kicker…

They weren’t two little baby bonus yolks.

They were TWO FULL-SIZE YOLKS.

Because apparently this chicken had decided that if she was going to make an egg, she was going to make a STATEMENT. 😂

And of course, my inner accountant was particularly pleased.

115.00g exactly. She couldn’t have rounded it better !

Not approximately 115

Now THAT is some satisfying data. 😂📊

Pastured egg farming: where every day brings a new surprise.

And occasionally, an egg that needs its own postcode. 🥚😂

🥚 SET & FORGET AUTO EGG DELIVERY🥚

Because remembering to order eggs every week is one more thing you really don’t need on your to-do list!

A large number of our regular customers have moved to our simple monthly “Set & Forget” system.

At the start of each month, we chat about:
🥚 How many eggs you need
📅 Which dates you want them delivered
📦 Your quantities for each delivery

You’re then invoiced and paid upfront for the month, and your deliveries are locked in.

No remembering to order each week.
No wondering if we’ll have enough stock.
No missing out when we sell out.

Your delivery is guaranteed, with our regular wholesale and Set & Forget customers given first priority when stock is tight.

Basically… tell us what you need once, and then forget about it. We’ve got the eggs covered. 😉

Want to set up your October egg schedule?

Message us or flick us a text today and we’ll customise a monthly delivery plan to suit you. 🐔🥚

23/09/2026

After what feels like approximately 147 years of bird flu updates, the DPI has finally announced that the voluntary housing recommendation for free-range poultry will end on 26 September.

Our girls, who were never particularly interested in the concept of “housing” anyway, are absolutely thrilled. 😂

There have been no H5 detections in Queensland for more than 28 days, no evidence of ongoing establishment in wild birds and thankfully no detections in Australian poultry.

So, whilst we’ll obviously continue with all our usual biosecurity measures and keeping a close eye on the flock, it’s nice to finally have some good news.

Because let’s be honest…

Putting Pasture Raised hens in a house was always going to be a fairly ambitious suggestion. 😂

These girls have a reputation to uphold 😏

And they’re very clear on one thing…

Pasture Raised means Pasture Raised🐔🥚

Consider the case closed. ✅
