🌿 A LITTLE MORE ABOUT KOALA ECO

We stock an extensive range of Koala Eco products at Daily Scoop — and there's a lot more to discover than just cleaning products.

Koala Eco is an Australian family-owned business, founded in Sydney in 2017 by husband-and-wife team Jessica Bragdon and Paul Davidson.

Their range now covers laundry, kitchen, bathroom, floors, glass, hand care and more, using plant-derived ingredients and Australian essential oils.

We love that they're focused on creating products that are effective, considered and kinder to the environment — because there's not much point having an environmentally conscious product if it doesn't actually do the job.

That's something we think our customers appreciate too. 🌿

☕ LOVE THE COFFEE RITUAL, BUT NOT THE CAFFEINE?

We’ve got two roasted roots worth trying. 🌿

🌱 ORGANIC ROASTED CHICORY ROOT

Chicory root is chopped and roasted, caramelising its natural sugars and creating a dark, rich and robust flavour.

It’s earthy, slightly bitter and nutty, with a deep roasted flavour that makes it a popular coffee alternative.

🌿 ORGANIC ROASTED DANDELION ROOT

Roasting gives dandelion root a rich, earthy flavour with a deeper roasted character and gentle bitterness. It’s another naturally caffeine-free option for those who enjoy a coffee-style drink.

And here's the fun part…

We enjoy combining the two.

We use roughly ½ roasted chicory + ½ roasted dandelion, then brew them together for a warm, rich drink with plenty of roasted flavour.

Of course, you can enjoy either one on its own too — we just love the flavour of them together.

Both are available from our bulk section, so you can scoop as much or as little as you'd like.

If you're looking for something to replace your usual coffee ritual without the caffeine, why not give these two roots a try? ☕🌿

Simple roots. Traditional roasting. A different kind of morning ritual.

🌿 TURMERIC + BLACK PEPPER | WHY DO THESE TWO GO TOGETHER?

Have you ever wondered why turmeric and black pepper are so often paired together?

There’s actually some interesting science behind this little combination.

Turmeric contains curcumin, one of its naturally occurring compounds.

Black pepper contains piperine.

And here's the interesting part: research in humans has found that consuming black pepper with turmeric can increase the amount of curcumin that is absorbed by the body.

So, in simple terms:

🌿 TURMERIC → CURCUMIN
🌶️ BLACK PEPPER → PIPERINE
TOGETHER → BLACK PEPPER MAY HELP YOUR BODY ABSORB MORE CURCUMIN

Curcumin has also been widely researched for its effects in the body, including its antioxidant activity and its role in inflammatory processes. However, much of the research uses concentrated curcumin or turmeric preparations, so we shouldn't assume that eating ordinary culinary amounts produces the same effects.

SIMPLE SPICES. INTERESTING SCIENCE.

And the best part? You don't need a complicated recipe to use them together.

Try turmeric + black pepper in:

🍛 Curries
🥕 Roasted vegetables
🍲 Soups
🍳 Eggs
🥗 Dressings
🥛 Golden milk

Both are available in our bulk spice section — scoop as much or as little as you need.

🌿 MEET A LOCAL PRODUCER | ANDREW HADJICHARI — ARIL ESTATE

This week, we’re introducing you to Andrew Hadjichari from Aril Estate, a family-owned farm in the Mudgee region.

Andrew and his family established Aril Estate in 2007, building their business around their connection to the Mudgee region.

What began with that connection has grown into a family farm with more than 2,000 olive trees and 3,500 pomegranate trees.

But what we find really interesting is how they do things.

Aril Estate grows olives and pomegranates on their Mudgee property and turns their harvest into food using traditional methods.

Their table olives are made using traditional Greek-style recipes and naturally fermented for at least one year.

That's a lot of time and patience for something that could easily be rushed.

And that's really what we want our Meet a Local Producer series to be about.

Not just what a producer makes, but who they are, where they come from, how they work and what traditions they carry with them.

Because behind the food on our shelves are real people, families, farms and stories — and we think it's worth getting to know them.

Family • Farming • Tradition

Next time you're in Daily Scoop and spot the Aril Estate range, you'll know a little more about the people behind it. 🌿

🌿 RECIPE MONDAY | BEETROOT + TURMERIC ACV SHOT

Looking for a simple way to add a few more wholefood ingredients into your day?

This little shot is bright, zingy and surprisingly easy to make. ❤️

Made with:

🌱 Organic beetroot powder
✨ Organic turmeric
🫚 Organic ginger
🍎 Apple c***r vinegar
🍋 Fresh lemon
🍊 Orange juice
🍯 Raw honey
🌿 A tiny pinch of black pepper

Why these ingredients?

❤️ Beetroot naturally contains dietary nitrates, which are involved in the body's nitric oxide pathway.

✨ Turmeric contains curcumin, a plant compound that has been widely studied for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

🫚 Ginger contains naturally occurring plant compounds that have also been studied for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.

🍎 Apple c***r vinegar contains acetic acid, which has been studied for its effects on blood-glucose measures.

We're not calling this a magic health fix — it's simply a tasty little way to bring some interesting wholefood ingredients together in one easy recipe.

🥤 THE RECIPE — MAKES 2 SHOTS

• 2 tsp organic beetroot powder
• ½ tsp organic turmeric powder
• ½ tsp organic ginger powder
• 1 tbsp apple c***r vinegar
• Juice of ½ lemon
• 100ml orange juice
• 50ml water
• 1 tsp raw honey
• Tiny pinch of black pepper

METHOD

Add everything to a jar or shaker, pop the lid on and shake well. Divide between two small glasses and enjoy.

TIP: If you like it a little sweeter, add another touch of honey. Prefer it sharper? Add a little more lemon or ACV.

A simple recipe, everyday ingredients and a whole lot of colour! ❤️

Most of the ingredients are available in bulk at Daily Scoop — so you can scoop what you need and buy only the amount you want.
