I made this video 4 years ago for our birthday when our shop turned 7. Since then I must have watched it 100 times, every year when it comes up in our memories. I love it SO much. It shows where we started and how far we have come. It shows faces who we love who have moved on, faces of people dear to us who aren’t here anymore, like Lofty 🤍 It reminds me of things that my mind forgets, like the covid masks, and my kids’ little faces. You can see how the years are passing through the photos of our boys growing. They have been raised in this shop. We have all grown in this shop. We were babies ourselves when we started. We were 25 years old.

Today our shop turns 11. There’s a lot of faces who are not in this old video who have been and gone in the past 4 years, and the faces who are crucial to our chicken family today. Flynn, Matilda, Kayla, Ebony, Audrey, Xander, Curtis, Blake and Rose. Those are the names on our roster as we head into our 12th year 🤍

Please keep shopping local.. we hope we are here for many years to come. We love our customers, we love being here to serve you, and we love being part of the Casino community 🙏🏻

Happy 11th Birthday, J&D Chicken!! 🎉💙

THAI LEMONGRASS & CHILLI
CHICKEN BURGER PATTIES

Not TOO spicy, just a really nice flavour. We don’t have these all the time so if you like the sound of them, come and get some! Absolutely freezable if you didn’t want to use them any time soon. If anyone watched my video on the salad I made for the movies, THESE are what I normally use! 🙌🏻

Gluten Free

$2 each OR 10 for $17

*Sorry about the hand written tag, we just realised we need to print a new one 🤪

CHICKEN SAUSAGE ROLLS

I had a lot of time off with the kids in the holidays which was really nice! But no one else makes the Sausage Rolls so we didn’t have them for a little while. I’ve been rolling and rolling and rolling this week to try and get a good couple of stacks going for you! It took a bit because they were just selling as soon as I was making them. But we should have enough to get us through the weekend now 😎

Open til 6:30pm tonight

PORTUGUESE THIGH CUTLETS

Thigh piece with the bone in and skin on, these are like a lemon/lime/chilli/zesty situation but not spicy.. just yummy.

We don’t have these all the time, just when we’ve got spare thigh. But I know people love them so posting to let them know! If anyone has Jason from Londy’s on Facebook, can you tag him please! He’ll definitely wanna know! 🤩

Bake on some baking paper for 35 minutes, 180 degrees, or fabulous on the barbie.

Gluten Free, $15.99kg

Friday Eve, let’s go. Open til 7:30pm tonight for Thursday late light shopping, see you down here 😎

Please don’t take too much notice of the inside glass of the window today! We had to re silicone yesterday and there’s a couple of bits that need touching up 🤪 So proud of Rome, he was such a great help. It was stinking hot and none of us wanted to be there. Elijah done nothing other than take himself and his wallet around to buy toys out of the ball machine and boxes of kinder surprises from Woolies without us knowing 🤦🏼‍♀️ oh and eat all the good bits out of the sushi bowl. One is just like his father and one is just like his mother lol 🤩💁🏼‍♀️ Have a great week, everyone! ☀️

BIG BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY.. to the man, the myth, the legend, poppy Bill Darragh 🙌🏻🎉❤️ 83 years old today and as fit as a fiddle! 😍 They don’t make them like this anymore! We’re trying our hardest to raise two young men to be as beautiful a man as you, Bill, but you set a high bar! You were the best neighbour, you’re the best friend, the best dad and pop to your family. He’s been retired for years now and he still pops in to check on us most days and helps us with anything that needs fixing! He’s just the best 😭 Everyone REALLY loves you, Bill, and I hope you feel it today! Enjoy your special lunch! If anyone sees him out and about, make sure you give him the birthday love he deserves! 🥰❣️Love you, Bill! Happy Birthday 😘 William Darragh

I’ve stolen this photo out of our group chat 🙊
The girls sent it yesterday to let us know about the hugely busy day they had yesterday! They were SO excited! When they called to give me the figures, my initial reaction was “f_ _ _ o_ _ ! 😳” I thought she was joking!! 😱

They had what was I’m pretty sure, the biggest Saturday we’ve ever had in the history of our books. Maybe the only exception might be Christmas time? But definitely not any other time of the year, not even another Saturday of a long weekend. I’d be curious to go through and check but I really think I’d be wasting my time. It was massive!! And in this day and age especially, that’s unheard of.

I was checking in with them throughout the day and I knew they were busy, and I knew they were filling trays in the window without being asked (which is like my favourite thing ever for the staff to do 🥹). She said they were so SO close to where they decided they wanted to get to, that they left pulling the window until the very very VERY last second, doing absolutely every other job possible first before pulling any trays in. And then they got a couple of late customers and BOOM, they did it. It was huge!!

But HOW COOL IS THAT!? That they CARE like that?? They get paid no matter what but they want our little shop to do well. They take pride in the day they worked together. I’m really proud of them, of both the girls!! This is Matilda on the left and Ebony on the right. Absolute legends!! 🌟

When everyone is watching the game today and eating their chicken.. which I KNOW there is a lot of you.. just know you made these two girls’ day yesterday, and this old girl too ❣️

Thank you so much for shopping local 🫶🏻

Wow, you guys. I have to show you something 😍

It came up in my Facebook memories from this day, 3 October 2015, 11 years ago. It was Jacob’s last day at Lenard’s after nearly 9 years. Ironic that it was only yesterday that he had his first day off since! 🫠

We hadn’t opened the shop yet, there was a LOT of cleaning and prep to be done before we could. So he finished up first and then I came after. I was 3 months pregnant.

Here is what I said in the original post:

“After 8 and a half years of loving Lenard’s Lismore like it was his own shop, it was Jacob's last day today before we set out on our own adventure!
I think I was more emotional than he was! And I haven't even had my last day yet!
The shop will be SO different without you there Jacob.
You are the fun. You are the laughter. You are the art in the window.
It's all you.
You are ARE the shop.
And even though I get to go where you go, I can't imagine what it will be like for everyone there once you're not there.
You are going to do such amazing things and I am so excited and SO proud that I get to be there doing it all with you!
You are a star 💫
I love you ❤️”

Look at us! We were pregnant with our first baby and paying off a mortgage. We went all in taking a real gamble on our future. We’re tired, heavier and we’ve aged from all the stress HAHA but we are still here. And I am SO proud of us 💘
