π§βπΎπ Wednesday Farm Updates ππ§βπΎ
Sorry this wasn't posted yesterday everyone, it literally did not stop raining, even for a few minutes, so I was unable to get the drone up to get some updated shots of the farm.
This morning though I managed!
Yes, this week has been a rather grim week so farm in terms of weather. The ground is absolutely sodden, to the point where we are avoiding going down to the farm to try and prevent it from becoming a mud pit!!
Unfortunately it looks like the weather may remain like this for at least another week which isn't ideal!
Before the rain came we managed to get a couple of beds prepped and some more seeds in the ground. This included more carrots, Bok Choy, Asian cabbage, mini cabbage, Leek, spring onions, snow peas, broccoli, and more leafy greens! We also gave the fruit trees a bit of love with some compost and a heap of mulch!
We had planned to form 3 new beds this week but the rain put a stop to that, so instead we managed to get the rest of the farm area slashed ready for further expansion. We now have access to use an excavator on the farm which will allow us to make some headway with drainage and burying the irrigation pipes once things dry out, whenever that may be π
We are running low on compost too, but cannot get a truck in until it dries out either. Yay π
It's starting to feel like an episode of Clarkson's Farm - "and it didn't stop raining for the next 6 weeks"!
On the upside, last Sunday's stall was an absolute banger! We had a huge range of produce and some amazing coffee and cooked breakfast provided by the talented Alex and Reece from Bloom And Bean! We all absolutely loved chatting with everyone who came to the Farmgate stall and are hoping this weekend will be equally as great, with an even larger range of produce available! Our Farmgate stall is open every Sunday from 7:30am - 10:00am at Petrichor Farm - 128 Camp Mountain Road, Samford. We accept both cash and card.
All our fruit and vegetables are grown here on the farm in our market garden and orchards using spray-free, organic methods as well as a lot of care and love. We do not buy any produce in from anywhere else, so everything you receive is directly from the farm, has absolutely 0 road miles and is just about as fresh as you can get, (most of our produce is harvested from 2am the morning of the stall with a head torch, a knife and a fair bit of caffeine!).
As always, a huge, heartfelt thankyou to all our customers who visit our Farmgate stall, especially our regulars, and also our awesome chef's who we provide produce to each week. We are ever so grateful for your support πβ€οΈ
That's it for this weeks updates! Follow the page if you haven't already, and our Instagram for lots more photos and videos (petrichor.ag). Until we see you this Sunday, enjoy the rest of your week and stay safe!
Lots of love from the Petrichor Farm Team.
