Rusty's Markets Rusty’s Market is one of the most successful and well-known markets in Australia and abroad. When in Cairns why not drop in any Friday to Sunday.
(1917)

From an insignificant beginning of some 6 stall holders Rusty’s has grown into an enormous three day event with over 180 stall holders. It has become renown for its carnival atmosphere, colourful stall holders, sumptuous displays of exotic fruit, vegetables, exotic flowers, bric-a-brac, delicatessens, specialty products & an excellent selection of food & beverage stalls. Rusty’s is named after the late Emrys “Rusty” Rees, who developed & expanded the market into the mega event it is today. The new owners, Gilligan’s Backpacker Hotel & Resort, have faithfully carried on the tradition & Rusty’s continues to offer it’s weekly delights to shoppers & tourists alike. Rusty’s Market is now an established Cairns tourist icon & certainly worth a visit. We are easily located in the CBD between Grafton & Sheridan Streets, just ask any local.

I find you very a-peeling 🍌💕

Five fast facts that will make you go bananas :

🍌 In 2012, a resident of Illinois managed to break a world record by peeling and consuming 8 whole bananas in 60 seconds.

🍌 If a person is allergic to bananas, or even avocados and chestnuts, they have an increased risk of being allergic to latex.

🍌 Singers Alicia Keys, Adele, and Katy Perry all have bananas as one of their backstage demands when performing.

🍌 A US study found that bananas can actually help lower your risk of stroke and heart attack due to the level of potassium they contain. They do this by lowering the risk of stiffness in the aorta and hardening in the arteries.

🍌 A monkey peels a banana upside down compared to our method, which is pinching the top and splitting the skin before peeling it down to reveal the fruit. This is an easier and less damaging method of peeling a banana.
