Today marks 10 years of Hungerford Meat Co! 🖤♥️

I’m so incredibly proud of what we, as a team, have been able to achieve out of this historic building in Branxton, in the heart of the Hunter Valley.

I’m truly grateful that I get to walk into this shop every day and continue doing what we’ve always believed in — and what I honestly don’t think I’ll ever tire of doing.

To all our loyal customers, thank you! We couldn’t have done it without you, and we certainly can’t continue to do it without your ongoing support.

To all the farmers, producers and suppliers — we love what you do. Your passion and hard work make what we do possible.

To our staff, who have basically become family over the years — THANK YOU! What we’ve achieved wouldn’t have been possible without you.

And a special mention to the original Hungerfords Butchery. We’re incredibly proud to play our part in continuing the Hungerford legacy — a legacy that has been growing from this very building since 1937.

At Hungerford Meat Co, every piece of charcuterie is handcrafted using free-range, heritage breed pigs, embracing the traditional European philosophy of using the whole animal. Working in small batches, their meats are naturally slow-fermented and carefully cured, allowing time, not shortcuts to create exceptional flavour. Many of their whole muscle products are also produced without added nitrites, a rarity in Australian charcuterie.

What makes Hungerford Meat Co truly unique is the man behind it. Owner Michael Hungerford brings the precision of a highly accomplished chef to the butcher's block. After training at some of the world's finest kitchens, including The Bathers' Pavilion, London's La Trompette, and working alongside Justin North at the two-hatted Bécasse, Michael developed an exceptional understanding of charcuterie, pâtés and terrines. His move to the Hunter Valley only deepened his passion for ethical farming, dry ageing and traditional curing techniques before taking the reins at Hungerford Meat Co.

His philosophy is simple: source exceptional animals from local farms, honour the whole carcass, and craft food with patience, skill and respect.

We're proud to stock a selection of their incredible range, including ham, smoked bacon, pâté and rustic terrines. If you love authentic artisan charcuterie made with integrity, you won't want to miss this producer.
