Local food starts with local people.

The growers picking vegetables in the cold.
The bakers pulling fresh loaves from the oven while balancing kids and family.
The farmers raising livestock with care.
The flower growers bringing colour to winter afternoons.
The small food businesses cooking meals for busy local families.

Every Thursday, our market brings together people growing, baking, cooking, preserving, bottling, and producing food right here in our region.

Supporting local means supporting real people in our community. Families, growers, makers, and small businesses choosing to keep doing things locally, seasonally, and with care.

Community keeps small farms and small food businesses going.

The Southern Highlands has deep roots in farming.

Long before new estates, cafés, and busy weekends, this region was built around the land. Around growers, farming families, seasonal food, and community connection.

This year marks 100 years of The Co-op being part of that story.

For generations, the Co-op has supported local farming and regional communities, and the Growers Market continues that connection each Thursday by bringing growers, producers, and community together in the heart of Bowral.

That history still matters.

Supporting local growers is about more than shopping. It is about staying connected to the roots of this region and supporting the people who continue to grow, make, and produce food close to home.

Let’s remember what built the Highlands.

Some traditions are worth keeping.

Eating with the seasons is one of them.

Seasonal food reconnects us to the rhythm of the land. It encourages us to slow down, cook differently, and appreciate what is naturally growing around us right now.

The Southern Highlands has always been shaped by the seasons, and local growers continue to work with them every day.

Supporting seasonal eating supports local farms, local knowledge, and a stronger connection to where we live.
