Our Italian Red garlic is absolutely powering along.

We’ve been throwing just about everything at this crop, good nutrition, trace elements, biology, plenty of w**ding and a whole lot of attention and it’s starting to show.

Strong plants, thick stems and plenty of healthy leaf growth. Still a long way to harvest, but we’re pretty happy with how it’s looking so far.

That's it for another season Our final garlic sale for 2026 will be heading out this Tuesday.
The last of this season's certified organic garlic has been graded, packed and wrapped.

If everything goes according to plan we will have garlic through the winter months and into spring for the coming season. Every season is another chance to learn, adapt and implement new strategies.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Boorara Organics this season. Your orders help support a small family farm in the Southern Forests of Western Australia, and we genuinely appreciate every one of them.

Our new solar and battery system allows us to keep critical operations running during grid interruptions while reducing long-term power costs. Reliable power is becoming increasingly important for modern farming, especially when refrigeration, irrigation and storage are involved.
The system was installed on the house for the simplest and most cost-effective setup, but it supports the broader needs of the farm and business.
Every step towards energy independence helps build a stronger and more sustainable future for Australian agriculture.

Putting the first BBN out for the season on the garlic today.
Using certified organic Base Builder N from Planted Passion Pty Ltd. It’s an organic granular nitrogen blend based around sugar industry by products and biological carbon sources designed to provide slower, steadier nitrogen release while supporting soil biology.

Grinding the teeth and feeling sick in the stomach doing this tine w**ding job. Aiming for 10 to 20mm. The garlic is pretty consistent at about 50mm deep, the roots however do push up as well.

With approximately 1.3ha this season to w**d I need to make the most of every opportunity with the tine w**der.

Bulb breaking and seed grading is going well. Not as fast as I thought though we have done 500kg in the last 3 days, with another 100kg to go.

Final tally of planting stock will be 700kg of Italian Purple, 200kg rojo and 100kg of Italian Red.

Hoping to plant everything this coming Thursday and Friday. Still rows to make and some micronutrients to adjust.

First planting is nearly all the way through, with some fine weather this week the tine w**der will be in action.

Garlic rows held up nicely after last night's rain. Was a rush yesterday to hill level excisting rows and rotary hoe the next planting area.

Planting went well with only 1 small hiccup. Area planted and seed broken matched up with maybe 1kg of seed left over.

Oats and radish shown on last year's garlic paddock. The thought been the type of radish sown will form deep into the subsoil and help break it up in seasons to come.
