We’ve just received a delivery of two delicious products from Arthur in Adelong — organically grown shallots and persimmons — and both will be at the Growers Hub tomorrow from 12–6pm

We love being able to bring you produce grown just down the road, and Arthur’s are always something special.

**Recipe Inspo for the Shallots**
Try roasting them whole — toss in olive oil and balsamic vinegar with a little brown sugar, a few sprigs of thyme and some unpeeled garlic, then roast at 180°C for about an hour, turning every 20 minutes. They go sticky, sweet and deeply golden. Perfect alongside roast lamb or beef.

**For the persimmons** Brown some bone-in chicken thighs then slow-cook them in the oven with peeled and quartered persimmons, onion, garlic, a cinnamon stick, a pinch of ginger and allspice, chicken stock and a drizzle of honey. 160°C for about 2.5 hours. The persimmons melt into the sauce and the whole thing becomes rich, warming and just a little bit special. Serve over rice or with crusty bread! 🤤

🍃 Fresh Feijoas have arrived at Adelong General Store!

We’ve just received a beautiful batch of feijoas from a local Adelong grower — and they won’t last long!

These little gems will also be available at the Growers Hub Riverina in Wagga this Thursday, so make sure you grab some while you can.

Never tried a feijoa before? You’re in for a treat!

Feijoas are a small, green-skinned fruit with a incredibly fragrant aroma and a flavour that’s hard to compare to anything else — imagine a mix of pineapple, guava, strawberry and mint all in one bite. The flesh is soft, juicy and sweet with a slight tang, and the perfume alone is enough to stop you in your tracks.

Simply cut them in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon — that’s all there is to it. They’re also wonderful in smoothies, cakes, crumbles and jams.

Roasted Turks Turban & Kent Pumpkin Soup — and it might be the best soup I’ve ever made. 🎃🍂

Our customers have been telling us all week how incredible our Turks Turban pumpkin is roasted whole — so tonight I had to try it myself. They weren’t wrong.

The greener parts go almost potato-like with the most beautiful nutty, chestnut flavour.

Roasted whole with a quarter of Kent pumpkin, white onion, garlic, olive oil, salt & pepper. Blended with beef stock, finished with sheep’s milk yoghurt, sea salt and Mountain pepper.

Topped with crispy bacon and roasted Turks Turban seeds 🌱

Served with seeded sourdough and salted butter. 🥖🧈

Every ingredient available from us — because that’s the whole point. 🌿
