We've planted a mix of radish, oats, and peas to improve our pastures. The radish helps break through compacted soil, creating channels that improve aeration and water infiltration. The oats and peas contribute valuable nutrition and help produce healthy, high-quality feed for our livestock.

Today we teamed up with Nonna's Cucina - Made with Love, Shared With Joy, Rosa Matto and Slow Food South Australia for a Tasting Australia event called Homemade. an event that brings together talented chefs and local producers to create incredible dishes celebrating local food.

Our Hampshire pork was front and centre, featured in fresh handmade sausage that showcased the quality of local produce and traditional cooking. We’re also incredibly proud that our commitment to sustainability, ethics, and building a successful values-driven business was recognised with slow food's Snail of Approval.

Slow Food is globally recognised for its philosophy of Good, Clean and Fairfood, making this recognition especially meaningful to us.

A huge thank you to the Nonna Cucina team for welcoming our kids into the cooking space and allowing them to be part of the experience. Their story, mission, and passion for making food inclusive and enjoyable for everyone is truly exceptional.

Today we were lucky to welcome Hugh and some of the wonderful team from Luma Restaurant and Bar to the farm.

It’s always special to spend time with people who share the same passion for great food, quality produce, and the story behind it all. We loved chatting about our pork, sustainable farming practices, and the care that goes into everything we do here on the farm.

There’s something meaningful about connecting the people who grow the food with the people who serve it to the table. Thanks for visiting, sharing a few laughs, and taking the time to see what we’re all about. We can’t wait to see what delicious creations come next!

Hello new followers!!

We thought it was time to properly introduce ourselves to you. We are a small, family-run pork producer based in the beautiful Barossa Valley.

Gumshire was first started by Michael and Margaret, Whose passion and dedication laid the foundation for what we are today. Now, their son Shaun and daughter-in-law Amy + the mini apprentices are proud to be continuing that legacy, carrying on the same passion for pigs and commitment to quality.

We raise a range of breeds including Landrace, Large White, a small batch of Duroc, and our favourite Hampshire. We’re especially proud of the quality of our Hampshire pigs, which we supply to restaurants throughout the Barossa Valley, Adelaide, and Renmark, as well as at our Barossa Farmers Market stall.

We also work with a number of butchers across the Barossa, Clare, and Adelaide Hills regions, supplying our other premium pork breeds.

Alongside our pork production, we run a stud focused on producing top quality Landrace, Large White, Duroc, and Hampshire pigs for breeding. Due to strong demand for our genetics and the quality, performance, and appearance of our animals . we’ve established our own small AI centre and lab ( The Dairy)

We collect from our boars weekly and supply farms across Australia.
Working with TGE Transport, we can have genetics delivered within 24 hours of collection.
