Maleny Cheese is a family run business established in April 2004. We began during the time of dairy deregulation in this area and now we have taken on milk supply from 4 Maleny farms. We make a few ranges of cheeses including Soft Cheeses, Club Cheddars and Feta Cheeses. For something different we have a few products made from pure Maleny Buffalo Milk. Maleny Gourmet Yoghurt is a greek-style yoghu

rt that we make. This is presented with fruit on the bottom to stir through and there are over 8 varieties to choose from in 4 sizes. It is multi award winning at local, state and national levels. *** 2026 DIAA Australian Awards of Excellence ***

Maleny Cheese is incredibly proud to share that we have taken out the Highest Scoring Greek-Style Yoghurt category at the 2026 DIAA Australian Awards of Excellence.

With more than 1,000 entries across the competition, having three of our Maleny Gourmet yoghurts named as finalists was an outstanding achievement in itself:

* Apple & Cinnamon
* Ginger
* Passionfruit

Out of 11 finalists in the category, our Passionfruit Yoghurt was awarded the category winner.

To top it off, we were also honoured to receive the award for Highest Scoring Cultured Dairy Product across the entire competition — an achievement that reflects the dedication and passion of our incredible team.

We would also like to congratulate our friends at Maleny Dairies who were awarded Best Milk of the Competition.

Today we had a wonderful Women in Agriculture workshop hosted by the Lake Baroon Catchment Care Group (Lake Baroon Catchment Care Group), held at Maleny Cheese Cafe.

Members enjoyed a relaxed morning tea and a guided tasting experience, alongside an insightful talk from Sara Bucher on the journey of Obi Obi Dairy and Maleny Cheese—from on-farm water quality initiatives through to a cheese-making business with over 22 years of history.

We also trialled our new self-guided cheese tasting placement today, and it was fantastic to see people engaging at their own pace while learning more about the cheeses and the story behind them. The feedback and atmosphere made it a very special part of the experience.

Our Camembert, Creamy Brie, and Triple Cream Brie are made using fresh Maleny hinterland milk and traditional methods.

Camembert: soft and smooth, with a fresh, mushroom-like flavour

Creamy Brie: rich and buttery, with a single portion of cream added

Triple Cream Brie: Maleny Dairies cream for an extra luscious texture

Each cheese is handwrapped, preserving its delicate white mould rind and ensuring peak quality.

On Saturday night, Sara proudly joined the Maleny community alongside Ross and Sally Hopper of Maleny Dairies and Michael Thompson of Maleny Buffalo in support of Trailblazers Maleny at a fantastic Trivia Night celebrating the incredible producers of our region.

The evening was a wonderful reminder of the strength of community and the importance of supporting local agriculture, tourism, and small business. It was also fantastic to see the continued growth of Trailblazers Maleny — an inspiring initiative by the Maleny Show Society helping young people build confidence, leadership skills, and hands-on agricultural experience under the motto “Learn by Giving it a Go.”

Programs like Trailblazers are creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation to connect with our local industries, community, and rural heritage.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in making the night such a success!
