Koojedda Country

Koojedda Country Preservative, Additive and Gluten free produce. As organically grown as possible. I would like to present to you my seasonal collection of homemade preserves.

They are all preservative, additive and gluten free. The pectin used in the jam as a setting agent is made from lemons grown on Koojedda Country. Most of the fruit and vegetables used in these products are grown on Koojedda Country at Bakers Hill as close to organic as possible. The sugar content is far less than usual - just enough to preserve.

When you’re a quilter and you come across wadding at 50% off - yep - you buy a few rolls.

Of course it’s wool wadding - must support our farmers. You can get various combinations of wadding, but I prefer wool wadding to go with cotton fabric - all natural for prosperity.
Just an old traditionalist here……….

🫐 🫐 🫐 My goodness - Blueberry flowers already.

🫐 Looks like I finally got the soil right after 3 years of trying. Each year I’ve learnt more after talking to garden gurus.

🫐 You can harvest blueberries for about 6 months if you get the right blueberry varieties. They start fruiting about September through to March. Each help pollinate the others for a higher yield.

🥑 🥑 🥑 Pruning goes on - this is/was my Avocado tree. At least 400 Avocados this year - sold some, donated some, gave some away, ate some.

🥑 Thanks to Shae and Sarah for helping prune this monster of a tree. It just doesn’t give up. Comes back with a vengeance each time it’s pruned like this - every 2 or 3 years.

🥑 I hear it all the time “what do you do with Avocado except Avocado smash with eggs”.
I have been collecting recipes - now to try some out.

🥑 Avocado are rich in monounsaturated fats (like oleic acid), which support heart health and lower bad cholesterol. They are also an excellent source of dietary fiber, potassium, folate and antioxidants.

Have you ever seen the base of a heavy based cooking pot fall off?
Well, it happened a couple of days ago. Just fell off mid batch.
So - I had to go buy a replacement pot or 2 as they were 50% off.
Now I have 10 pots - 9 just wasn’t enough any more. All pots are the same now - no odd one out.

Not many left.

🥑 Bucket of 10 or 20 - $1 per Avocado.
There just might be a couple of extras in each bucket.

🍁 🍂 🍁 I love the colours of Autumn. The way the leaves change then fall to the ground causing a carpet of colour.

🍁 The tree is an Apricot tree - 15 years old - it has all the Autumn colours like an Autumn rainbow.

🍂 So - pruning, raking up, mulching, newspaper under the mulch to save moisture, raked up leaves under the newspaper as compost. Fertilise and water.

🍁 Now to wait for flowers, leaves then fruit. It never stops.

An early delivery this morning to this orchard for their S&R Orchard Blossom Festival for the next 3 weekends.

They are putting everything in place today but I took the opportunity to walk around the carpets of fallen leaves. So pretty.

In some respects it is my favourite season. A time to clean up, prune trees and walk around to see what changes you want to make or just sit and have a coffee/tea etc. A time to contemplate the future or remember the past. It looks amazing. Great photo opportunities too.

A full range of Koojedda Country jams plus Preserved Peaches and Preserved Plums from their recent harvest. Great coffee and food vans and an animal petting area for the kids.

Check it out - good weather this weekend.

These are the last of my Protea bunches going out today.
Thank you for your support this year.
Now to complete pruning, tidying up trees and bushes, mulch and small amount of fertiliser then leave alone for a few months.
Won’t need to do anything until after winter.
Just have a few more to plant which will flower in 2 yo 3 years.

My first 2 King White Protea. Stunning. Wait until you see the King Pink…………
