Koojedda Country Preservative, Additive and Gluten free produce. As organically grown as possible. I would like to present to you my seasonal collection of homemade preserves.

They are all preservative, additive and gluten free. The pectin used in the jam as a setting agent is made from lemons grown on Koojedda Country. Most of the fruit and vegetables used in these products are grown on Koojedda Country at Bakers Hill as close to organic as possible. The sugar content is far less than usual - just enough to preserve.

🍋 🍋 🍋 Would you just look at the amount of flowers on this Myer Lemon tree.

🍋 Last year it was not in a good way with scale and ants all over it and very little fruit. Scale secrete a sticky substance called honeydew that attracts ants and causes black sooty mold. Basically sucks all the moisture and life out of the tree. Leaves turn yellow and eventually the tree dies.

🍋 Just a little trick I have learnt since then - Vaseline on the trunk just above ground level for about 6cm. Seems that ants don’t like it.

🧅 Light traffic as long as I get back to Great Eastern Highway before school pick up time.

🧅 My outlets are stocking up for Christmas. Hopefully we don’t run out.

I just found this King Protea - Little Prince. It is a new purchase and it was hiding amongst the other pots that have been repotted waiting to be planted out.

I already have 2 of these bushes, but it was about to flower so I had to buy it. I find the red & white a little harsh but with these white wax flowers surrounding it I think it looks lovely. Softens it right up.

🍋 This year I pickedas needed instead of harvesting the whole tree at one time. Less waste and extra time on the trees gets sweeter fruit.

🍊 Orange blossom was used back in the day for weddings in spring as people didn’t have the variety of flowers we do now.

🍋‍🟩 I look forward to next years crop. Citrus are quite low maintenance really. Fertilise and water at the right time and you will have plenty of fruit.

🍊 🍋 🍊 Yesterday and today I have been and still am processing CITRUS & WH**KY MARMALADE.

🍊 One of the most popular Marmalades I make.

🍊 Low sugar, high fibre and all grown here except a few lemons bought in. No preservatives or additives and is gluten free.

🍊 I have been using the same Wh**ky for many years and it seems to be on special at this time each year. The guy knows me now and says “you making Marmalade again”.

🍊 Have you tried Marmalade with cheese - give it a go. I just have it on toast. Have used it in the muffin mix - not too bad that way.

Sitting out the front watching it try to rain and looking at the standard iceberg roses which are about to flower for the first time this season.
These are 2 along the front of the house.
If you have roses and want them to flower for Christmas you need to prune 6 weeks before Christmas. Give a good fertilise, mulch to keep moisture in and water.
Check out companion planting for roses. I use lavender and alyssum. Plus Marguerite Daisy’s for extra pollinators.

Dwarf Peach tree is in fruit and Brahmi (Barcopa monnieri) used in brain and memory tonic, stress relief and inflammation in Auveydic Medicine has been harvested for drying ready for making tea.

Pulling up, cutting back, mulching using leftover green leaves and kitchen scraps. Add fertiliser then leave for a week or so then replant.

Some lettuce and heirloom Tomatoes already planted out and volunteer Tomatoes repositioned for Green Tomato Pickle and Chutney.

All in all the winter garden in a mess being rejuvenated for spring/summer veggies.
