I had to delve deep into Hang Son Doong cave to recover these ancient seeds.

They are for a very specific dish. Can anyone guess which one??

Loving this tray washer!! Seriously, cleaning microgreen trays is one of the biggest pains in the back. This should help to speed things up a bit.

New favourite crop! Check out the mix of colours 🎉.

Chard vibrance variety from .

I love the yellow stems so much. I haven't seen it in any other variety.

This is approximately 21 days of growth. Minimal seed hulls.

Microgreens benefit from CO2 injection into the grow space (assuming you run a sealed room).

My harvest weights are up approximately 30% this week after running CO2 at 750ppm throughout the entire growth cycle.

I've noticed that cotyledon size is significantly bigger on all crops except for amaranth.

Sunflower and radish seem to have accelerated growth with large true leaves forming on the sunflower, and radish cotyledon blowing up almost too big.

Pictured is purple kohlrabi. Often a low yielder. This tray produced 180g from 10g of seed by day 12. Happy with that.

Note: if you're running CO2 ensure your plant has sufficient light and nutrients to take advantage of the additional photons.

I will probably pi*s some microgreen growers off by saying this, but if you're not letting your mustard grow a little longer to get those beautiful spiky true leaves coming through, you're doing it wrong! This is about 16 days under light. Still has the same strong mustard hit after about 3 seconds of chewing.

Reach out if you'd like samples.of.any of our microgreens or... baby greens as shown in this post.

I went out for lunch at .restaurant yesterday and brought a pack of my Red Vein Sorrel along for the ride. The sorrel was decent company, but head chef was even better. The man can cook.
If you’re down Sorell/Dodges way and haven’t checked out Orani because you think it’s just a cherry farm, do yourself a favour and get in there. It has to be one of the best-kept food secrets on the Eastern Shore.

Little Roots Farm turns one today — at least the social media page does.

It’s been a big year of steady growth. Early on, the grow room was just a spare bedroom in Queenstown, and I was still working in mining — driving trays back and forth between Queenstown and Hobart. Since then, the grow rooms have expanded, and the sophistication increased!

We’ve gone from supplying a single tray to Ventura Café to now servicing close to 30 restaurants and around 20 supermarkets across Hobart. This month, we also brought on our first part-time staff member, which feels like a solid milestone.

A big thank you to my wife, Cait — without her support, Little Roots wouldn’t exist.

Looking forward to another year of building on what we’ve started. 🌱

There are some lucky chefs around Hobart 🎉🎉.

Rainbow chard is out and ready for deliveries.

I've grown it out slightly longer than usual to experiment with those pretty true leaves.

Would love feedback from the sophisticated culinary artists that follow my page!
