Let’s talk about a man who’s been building our football behind the scenes — Coach Mike.
If you’ve ever cheered for Dave Daka, Martin Daka, Joseph Sabobo, Martin Njovu, Jackson Zulu, or countless other players from our community, then you’ve already seen Coach Mike’s work. He was the one on the pitch before sunrise. The one using his own money for transport, boots, and water. The one teaching discipline when talent wasn’t enough. The one telling young boys “you’re bigger than the streets” and actually showing them how.
Too often we celebrate the players and forget the hands that shaped them. Coach Mike didn’t do it for fame or photos. He did it because he believed in our kids. Because of him, families have hope. Because of him, some boys chose training over trouble.
But where’s his recognition? Where’s his thank you?
It’s time we change that. Let’s give Coach Mike his flowers while he’s still here to smell them. If he coached you, helped your brother, or inspired your son — call him today. Send a message. Buy him a drink. Post his name with pride. Don’t wait until it’s too late to say “he mattered.”
Coach Mike, we see you. We thank you. We owe you.
And to everyone reading this: let’s honor the real builders of our game.
Share this if you believe legends should be celebrated alive.
