Looks like we have caught another swarm in the bait hives. Will check on them when the rain stops to what size it was.

Rearing queens! About three weeks ago I split a hive, left two queen cells in the original hive. Went back in a week later, spotted a newly hatch queen so quickly took the capped cell on the other frame to one side. I had no available hives except a tiny mating hive. I had nothing ready but simply took some old drawn comb, secured with elastic bands. Normally you would have frames of food, brood and bees, I had nothing but simply secured the comb, opened and released the queen and shook about 50 bees in. I placed the little hive next to the original hive " which your not meant to do" filled the feeder with sugar syrup and a little pollen and left them to it. Happy to see a few bees coming in and out and on inspection today she is still alive and mated. Bees no best if left.

Swarm Traps! A week ago I caught sight of a little cast swarm of about 200 bee's in and around the bait hive. Went back in today to take a look and see whats what. There was a mated queen. I decided to swap out the old hive with new and most of the old foundation and frames. Normally I would pop theses in a smaller hive but had nothing spare. Added a feeder and will leave them to it. I'll check back in a couple of weeks and see how they are doing.

Early morning visit to take off some full frames of honey for a regular, returning customer. Ali is happy to drive from Sherborne to collect his seven frames. He will only buy straight from the hive. Collected and packaged in minutes, cant get better than that!

Bee's and hives for sale.. Just back from a week away. Bees are really strong even the new nuc hives i've put together are all bursting at the seams. Alongside honey, I also sell bees and hives if anyone needs any, or thinking of starting up bee keeping. I can supply just the bees ie, 6x frames for just £220 to a complete hive, Just ask to see what I have available.

Returning a new queen back safely to start work in her new hive. In the next few days all new queens will take mating flights and return to hive and start laying.
