Definitely worth it! My 8 year old Great Pyrenees has been acting more like a youngster since she started eating it, and all my dogs LOVE it. Amazing!

11 cups of homemade food per recipe

How much does your dog need? From all my reading and searching, it seems that if your dog is already on a high quality grain free kibble, then you will double the amount of homemade food based on their kibble amounts. For instance…
2 cups kibble = 4 cups homemade
1 cup kibble = 2 cups homemade
Is it expensive? Yes! Is it worth? You have to decide. Some people just use the homemade as a topper since it is spendy. I am doing a mix of homemade and kibble, with a higher ratio of homemade for my senior dogs. My Great Pyrenees eats 4 cups of kibble a day, so you can see how that adds up with 5 dogs.
Here is the recipe:
Homemade Dog Food
1 1/2 c. Dried brown rice
1 TBS olive oil
3 lbs. ground turkey
3 cups baby spinach, chopped
2 carrots, shredded
1 zucchini, shredded
1/2 c. peas, frozen
Cook rice and set aside. Cook ground turkey in olive oil & crumble as it cooks. Stir in spinach, carrots, zucchini, peas, and brown rice until spinach is wilted and mixture is heated through. Cool completely and store in freezer bags.

Well……They LOVED it! I ran back to the store last night, bought the very specific ingredients I need to make it for one week (hopefully), and now I am going to do a cost comparison to the kibble. I will let you know what I have found. 💛
I have been wanting to transition my dogs from dry kibble to fresh food because it is just better for them. 💜 However, the subscription plans for fresh dog food are so expensive! Instead, I am trying a great recipe to make my own fresh dog food. I will let you know how they like it. 🤞

Apricot update! 🍑 I forgot to follow through with what I was cooking up in my kitchen a few weeks ago. One pic looks like apricots with chocolate sauce…I assure you that it’s not. I love to can my apricots in raw, local honey. When you blend the whole jar with ice and a bit of almond milk, it makes the yummiest apricot nectar. Bottom right hand pic…..my new electric canner. I had my traditional water bath going on the the stove while this new little gadget was doing its water bath feature on my countertop! Rewards = quarts and pints of apricots and 1/2 pints of apricot jam. Yum!! ☺️
If you come flower picking Saturday morning, wear long pants. I haven’t had any mosquitoes all summer but had an explosion of them today. 😞
My biggest and my littlest, 150 lb difference, and they both sleep with no care in the world. 🥹
