Closing Jam
Everything is damp this morning. The river's running as high and brown as washed out memories of too much, too late. There's gravel in the roadway, boulders and blackened tree stumps.
We need to laugh. We need to hear the music and realize there's harmony between the currents, memories between the upstream caught in the downstream light.
Friday, which, as I write this, is tomorrow, we're closing shop here at Linda's Fine Foods. It's been a good 15 years, and I won't keep you up all night explaining the reasons why. There are many, but there are even more wonderful memories. I'll just tell you it's time to close the door, and close them we will at 4 p.m. on Friday.
However, after we close the front door, we will toast to some good memories with a closing musical jam-- a gift from the incredible Mumbo Gumbo, Mike Bond, Mike Fowler, and Tim Wilson, on the front porch, starting at 5. We'll wipe all that rain off the table tops and benches and hope you come sit with us to enjoy a beautiful fall night of music.
But I want to remind you, the restaurant is closed, so please feel free to bring your own refreshments. In other words, Bring Your Own Beverage, Food, Lawn Chairs (if you wish--we have limited seating), Nice Pets (on leashes), and Tips for the Band. If the parking lot is full, you might try across the street. Respect the orange cones or you'll get stuck in the mud. Be creative with your parking. Carpool.
Mumbo Gumbo will play til they stop. They'll take requests, but won't play the songs if they don't know them. They'll tell bad, good jokes, make you laugh, and make you glad you were born into a world where
music flows and friendship abounds.
Because that is what Linda's has always been about: Good music, good friends, and good food. But keep in mind that we won't be serving food that night because...Linda's Fine Foods closes at 4.
Thank you for the years of patronage and friendship and inspiration.
And for the love.
