Taking you into 1 of the many splits that I am inspecting today, making sure the queen is laying and the workers are working. These are 3 weeks after I split them and gave them new mated queens. Here are some up close and personal pics of the girls😉. I found the queen so I caught her and marked her blue(different colors depending on the yr 2025 is blue). I saw that the girls have been very busy building new comb for the queen to lay eggs in and the queen has been doing great with her egg laying pattern. You can see in the pics the eggs which last about 3 days then they turn into larva for about 8 days then the nurse bees will cap the larva and this is the pupa stage. Worker bees take 21 days from egg to hatching, queen bees take 16 days and drones take 24 days. These bees look great so I added an extra deep box of 10 frames. If they keep growing like this and weather permits we will be splitting this hive again in a month or 2. Thanks for following along with us. This hive will not be used for honey this yr, I like the genetics of them so we're just using these guys to grow our Apiary.
