Tasha’s Tiny Farm Turning 1/4 acre into a thriving micro farm

06/09/2026

Listen to that crunch. 🌱

This salad bouquet spent TWO WEEKS in my refrigerator before I finally got around to making this salad.

No special tricks. No revival soak. Just fresh greens harvested from Tasha’s Tiny Farm and stored in the fridge until I was ready to enjoy them.

I added lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and an apple and gave everything a rough chop, and the crunch speaks for itself.

Fresh salad bouquets available this Saturday at the market.

🌱 2026: International Year of the Woman Farmer

Here in Charles County, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible women who help power our vibrant local food community—growing, creating, educating, and inspiring every single day.

What can you grow on a quarter acre? Just ask Tasha from Tasha’s Tiny Farm!

From her Waldorf-based micro farm, Tasha has transformed 1/4 acre into a thriving, productive space—proof that small-scale agriculture can make a big impact.

Tasha participated in a mentorship program through Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission, gaining valuable experience and guidance from the team at Rootbound Farms who are also local Charles County experts productive small scale growing!

Over the years she has built her tiny farm, continued to learn, and now even teaches gardening. Tasha's knowledge runs deep, her passion is contagious, and her commitment to growing fresh, local food for our community shines through in everything she does.

You can find Tasha at the La Plata Farmers Market, offering:

• Fresh, seasonal produce
• Vegetable starts for your home garden
• Mini salad and salsa gardens
• Fresh herb bundles
• Value-added goods like jams, jellies, pancake mixes, and specialty sugars

Beyond the market, Tasha is a familiar face at community events across the county—always eager to share what she’s learned and inspire others to grow.

Tasha’s Tiny Farm is a powerful reminder that innovation, dedication, and heart can turn even a small space into a meaningful source of local food.

We’re Baaaaccckkk!

Market season is here and I’ve been getting things ready behind the scenes…
in the garden and in the kitchen.

This is one of my everyday staples… and yes, I’ll have it with me this weekend.

If you’re local, come see me Saturday 💚

Thank you for your commitment to helping us grow! I learned a lot and made meaningful connections. I’m even more excited for this upcoming season.

Yesterday, Charles County Economic Development had the honor of spending National Agriculture Day alongside several of our local farmers and food producers for our Marketing Strategies for Agricultural Businesses class. The training was facilitated by Agriculture and Rural Development Manager Molly Meehan.

Together, we shared ideas, explored new opportunities, and focused on strengthening the business marketing skills that help our farms grow and thrive.

Agriculture and local food are at the heart of our community — supporting our economy, our health, and our way of life. We are grateful to work alongside such dedicated producers and to play a role in helping build resilient, successful farm businesses for years to come.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to invest in the future of agriculture in Charles County. 🌾
