On Wednesday we hosted the New American Welcome Center at the University YMCA in our classroom space. Community members and University staff gathered to celebrate culture, cuisine, and community. Arepas were on the menu! A pre-Columbian staple dating back over 3,000 years to Indigenous communities in the regions that are now Colombia, Venezuela, and Panama. Moments like this remind us how powerful food can be. It brings folks from all over the world together in a communal space where laughter & joy are shared. No matter what is happening in the world, there is always room for you at our table.
