One of the questions I get asked most often is this:

“Should I buy beef and pork in bulk, or should I order the monthly boxes?”

And the honest answer is…
It depends on your family.

There isn’t a “better” option — just the one that fits your season of life, your freezer space, and your cooking habits best.

Here’s the simple breakdown 👇

Buying in Bulk (Once a Year)
✔ Lowest price per pound
✔ One shipment
✔ A freezer stocked for months
✔ Great for planners and home cooks

Things to consider:
– You need freezer space
– It’s a larger upfront investment
– You’ll get a wide variety of cuts

Buying Monthly Bundle Boxes
✔ Smaller, predictable purchases
✔ No big freezer required
✔ Flexible (pause or skip anytime)
✔ Great for consistency and convenience

Things to consider:
– Slightly higher price per pound
– It’s an ongoing rhythm, not one-and-done

Many families start with monthly boxes and move to bulk once they feel confident.

There’s no wrong choice here. Both options mean you’re feeding your family meat raised with care, transparency, and purpose — from our farm to your fork.

And don’t forget — bulk beef and pork open for ordering March 3rd at 8:00 a.m. (EST).

If you want help deciding, send me a message. I’m always happy to chat!

Bulk Beef & Pork season is coming!

And for the next few weeks, I’m going to switch gears and walk you through what buying beef or pork in bulk from our farm actually looks like.

If you’ve done this before, not much has changed (except one new payment option I’ll share soon 👀).

If you’re new here—don’t worry. I’ll be breaking everything down step by step so you can decide if bulk buying is a good fit for your home and your freezer.

Buying in bulk can feel overwhelming at first. How much meat? How much freezer space? When does it arrive?
Those are all normal questions—and I’m here to help.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing:
• how the bulk process works
• what sizes are available
• freezer space tips
• and when deposits will open (March 3rd at 8:00 a.m.)

If you ever have a question I don’t answer here, my inbox is always open.

Surprise! We have 5 hogs heading to the butcher next week and I decided to open up BULK PORK packages for fall.

How it works (super simple):

Place a 40% deposit on the Small (45 lbs), Large (90 lbs), or Whole (135 lbs) package—enough to last your family until spring.

I’ll invoice the remaining 60% right before delivery (week of Oct 20 or 27).

Your pork ships to your door late October, so you can stock the freezer with Indiana Berkshire pork—raised on one farm, no antibiotics.

What’s included in every package:
• Ground breakfast sausage
• NEW breakfast sausage links
• Bacon
• Pork chops
• Pork shoulder roast
• Ham
• Ribs
• Brats
• Pork burgers

Why buy in bulk?
• Best price per lb we offer
• One shipment → your own freezer section (eat what you want, when you want)
• Food security for winter
• 100% Satisfaction Guarantee (we’ve got you!)

⏰ Order window closes Tuesday, Sept 30 at midnight. After that, the next bulk promo won’t be until spring.

Summer farming fun -nerding out with cover crop grazing . Growing corn and soybeans can get a bit monotonous. That’s why I have got such a kick out of this project. The world has a surplus of grain and the price reflects it.

This year I took 20 acres out of corn production to plant a summer annual covercrop mix for our calves to graze - future cows for the ladies and future beef for the fellas.

These acres would typically have been tilled twice, planted, sprayed a couple times and suffered from dry weather since they are both really dry sand. Instead, we planted a salad bar for the calves - a lush combo of grasses and forbs for them to feast on throughout the summer.

The calves haven’t been able to keep up since we had ample rain earlier this year. So,……yesterday I went out with our mower to trick the plant. Trimming it back will switch it from reproductive growth back to vegetative growth and extend the season. Trimming it from 6 feet to 2 feet might even let us see the calves again!

Why is all this so exciting?!??! Below the surface of the soil is a network of microbes, fungi, earthworms and other critters being fed by diverse roots building organic matter and pumping carbon back into the soil.

These fields can handle heavy rain with no runoff and cattle are gaining great.

Healthy soils > healthy plants > healthy animals > healthy people

Now that the upper foliage is trimmed away, all the other plants beneath will get sunlight and take off. Check out the photos of radish, cowpeas and other forbs in the mix.

Livestock and regenerative farming make such a delicious combination.

15 years. 4 kids. A whole lot of cattle, corn, and chaos later… and I’d still say “yes” a thousand times over. ❤️ Marriage isn’t always easy, but we’ve learned to lean on faith, laugh through the hard days, and (sometimes) dance like no one’s watching.⠀Here’s to love, laughter, and building a life we’re proud of—together. Happy 15th anniversary, Don.⠀

“Farming is in our blood.” Ever heard a farmer say that?

Our 9-year-old son Graham is living proof.

He’s always been that way—observant, driven, and eager to help. This spring, he’s been dying to get behind the wheel of the tractor to help Don with field work.

And on the last day of school, we told him it was time. His face lit up. Pure joy. Not just because he got to do something big, but because he knew we believed he was ready.

The job? Working ground—a real task on our farm that involves a big tractor and an even bigger sense of responsibility. He nailed it. No fences harmed. 😉

This picture is from three years ago, but it’s one of my favorites—stacking hay at 6, determined to be useful. He’s still that same kid, just a little taller now.

Thanks for following along with our family and our farm!

Non-GMO corn going into the ground. And with help from our youngest daughter. We grow 95% of the feed for our cattle and made the switch to non-GMO corn this year for several reasons! 1. Customers want non-GMO feed. We heard you! 2. It’s not really much harder to manage and the seed costs less! 3. Don learned a lot at the Acres Conference he went to this past fall and switching to non-GMO corn is one of the 12 changes he made to our crop plant this year. Follow along to gain more knowledge about where your food comes from!
