Local Yokels

Local Yokels Local Yokels is a fully sustainable online grocery sourced from small farmers and local producers in Washingtion State.

We center LBGT, POC, Immigrant and Women small business owners among our producers and create a low waste ecological option for you! Local Yokels is a full-diet online grocery store that sources 80-90% of its available products from within 200 miles of Seattle. We are looking to partner with local farmers and producers of all sizes, but specifically smaller, to bring quality, locally produced food

to customers in the greater Seattle area. We are creating a means of distribution outside the traditional grocery option by sourcing from many local producers on all scales. Our goal is to support our local community and economy by connecting farmers and other producers of food items with customers and create a net zero locally made and grown closed loop system between lol food producers and customers, together we can turn things around!!

The Town Hall at the end of the event with City leaders made me so proud of our city and level of care they show for our small businesses and over all food system!💚💚💚

Like apples, winter squash is a storage crop that is harvested all at once in the fall, but continues to cure and ripen during winter storage. Each variety has its own ideal time ranging from October through February. Here are a few ideas of what you can do. My favorite is still the simplest. Cut it, roast it, add a little butter and salt and treat it like a bowl of mashed potatoes that comes with its own bowl!

Just like apples, it’s a storage crop that is harvested in the fall, with its storage time and sugar content changing over the course of the season. Here are some suggestions for what to do with it!
