• Economic Impact: The industry generates roughly $5.3 billion to $5.8 billion in annual economic output and employs over 54,000 workers (roughly every tenth resident works in the sector).
• Top Catch by Volume: Alaska po***ck is the largest catch by weight, making up about 58% of the state's total harvest (roughly 1.3 million metric tons per year).
• Five Species of Wild Salmon: King (Chinook), Sockeye (Red), Coho (Silver), Pink (Humpback), and Keta (Chum).
• High-Value Species: Sablefish (black cod) commands some of the highest per-pound prices, while Red King Crab and Halibut are major seasonal commercial staples.
