By doing so, you are supporting way more than that individual store. Take a minute and reflect on what it takes to get the food on your plate.

A lovely Sunday dinner...

What a fun way to spend a Sunday, going to in Ballard procuring this seasons choicest vegetables. We had a Grand AIoli in mind as we are looking forward to joining our partners in the Southwest of France this October. Once we had all the goods we made our way home and prepped all the veggies, roasted a chicken, made a simple garlic aioli, braised some leeks, and dinner was set.

Check out our April newsletter (out now), link in bio, this month we focused on the center of Midi and features a lovely cocktail from Anna, , and this recipe from yours truely

Incredible wine pairing from our friend Celia go ahead and give her a follow and go check out the new shop.

Can't forget the stunning local goat cheese crottin from . Featured here is their Glacier, bloomy rind cheese. Follow and find them at our local farmers market.

Interested in joining us in France for a week of market tours, eating and drinking like the locals, strolling the village, and fun communal dinners?
Check our upcoming trips. DM us with any questions and start packing your bags.

Hello all,

This is a huge step for both myself and Rain Shadow Meats.

Almost to the date I opened for business—April 23, 2010—here we are, 16 years later, at a crossroads. My lease is expiring, and the landlord has chosen not to allow me to re-sign and remain a tenant in Melrose Market.

When I opened the shop, I was 30 years old, and the thought of losing my lease never even crossed my mind. Alas, here we are.

Almost two years ago, I was given the choice of a one - or two‑year lease. I chose the two‑year option and have been actively looking for a new space ever since. I’ve tried to leave it up to the universe and allow things to play out. During this time, I’ve looked at many spaces and will continue to do so—either until we find the right new home or until the doors close for the last time. As of right now, our last day open in the Melrose Market will be Dec, 23th 2026. For now, we will remain open every day at 10 am – 6am.

This business has been more of a struggle than a path to prosperity, but we have survived. That is entirely because of you—our customers. I also would not be here without the amazing staff who have stood behind the counter over the years.

On a personal level, I’ve learned an incredible amount and grown in ways I never expected while navigating this business. For that, I am deeply grateful.

Thank you for being part of this journey, and stay tuned for updates on a new space.

Please share & tag us if you are interested in this journey.

You know it is spring when we start to make it Lamb Crepenttes. A Crepenette is anything wrapped in Caul Fat. In this case, we made our lamb sausage with toasted fennel seeds, rosemary, garlic & red wine. Simple, balanced, and delicious.

Great on the grill or in a cast iron pan on the stove top. Serve with wilted greens or grilled rabe and some crusty bread.

If you've been to the shop in the last year, you most likely have met Nika, .cowpoke. this was her first time breaking down a whole lamb by herself, and she rocked it!

Case is full and ready for your holiday celebrations this weekend.
