Are you getting stressed by working at home, teaching the kids AND getting 3 meals a day on the table? Allie’s Home has plenty of products to jazz up and simplify your meals! Our Ginger Curry dip can be added to a can of coconut milk for a quick and easy curry, add cooked chicken, greens, potatoes, rice for a one pot meal. Very Veggie dip mix can be added to the water when cooking rice or added to soups( and the kids will never know they're eating veggies!). We have several rubs for fish and meats. All of our dip mixes are dairy based so you can use Greek yogurt or sour cream and use instead of butter for veggies and they’re great on wraps. And you can contact me or order curbside pick up at Down to Earth Garden Shop in Kingston! And see pic descriptions for more info and ideas!

Blanching and freezing greens. Look at individual pics for step by step. Did you ever think, I should try some kale. And you get a big bunch of it, try a recipe, maybe didn’t like it and you’re stuck with all this kale. Spinach and kale are great to blanch and freeze and then use in a bunch of recipes I call “ hide the veggies “. They can be chopped into rice, pasta, eggs, soups , spaghetti sauce and stews. You will hardly know they’re there and you will reap the benefits

Homemade Tasso ham (courtesy of Emeril);
partially cured pork that is used as a seasoning for rice, beans, eggs, stews. Slice pork butt into 1/4 inch slices ( have the butcher remove the bone)! Make your spice blend( message me for recipe) Lay down plastic wrap and then another piece across. Liberally spread spices on the wrap. Place pork slices on top, add more seasoning, layer more pork and repeat. Wrap tightly in plastic and put in a shallow dish/ bowl in fridge for 3-7 days.Look at photos for additional instructions!

My spring fairs are understandably all cancelled. I feel for the civic organizations who are losing their charitable fundraising. If you can spare a few dollars, please consider donating to your local church and civic groups who support those in need. Also consider a gift card/certificate to your local gift shops and restaurants to help keep them afloat. Locally, Down to Earth Garden Shop is near and dear to my heart. It has been so beneficial to my small biz to be able to display my wares in a local brick and mortar shop. The owner, workers, and local vendors are a great group of people and their flower arrangements are just gorgeous. Perhaps you know someone who is isolated during this crisis. Think of what a beautiful floral delivery would mean to brighten their day!! And you don't even have to go out to do it! Give 'em a call. 978-590-5296
Stay safe everyone and take care of each other!

Here at Allie's Home...a bit sad, thinking of all those who are losing a paycheck, worried about their kids. I am fortunate that I am retired, working at my little side biz that I LOVE! I love interacting with people at craft fairs and at Down to Earth Garden Shop where I can showcase my products at their many events. But it is a scary time, and if you are fortunate to be able to work at home and keep your paycheck intact, perhaps you can help out your small town businesses too! My craft fairs are being cancelled and I'll be OK, but most of your local craft fairs are run by local church and civic groups who fund raise for THEIR local charities. The trickle down from this will be awful. The same with church suppers, etc. Your local shops and businesses will struggle. Walmart WILL survive but your neighbor's business may not. Purchasing gift cadrs/certificates from your fave places may help keep them afloat. A few dollars to the church or your civic groups will go a long way. Never underestimate the power of a dollar! Take care of each other!!

03/13/2020

Here at Allie's Home, been busy preparing for a couple of Spring craft fairs but I'm pretty sure they will cancelled. I'll be OK, but all these local craft fairs, spaghetti suppers, and the like are sometimes that church or organization's major fundraiser for their civic activities. If you can work at home, and you're doing OK, don't forgot to try and visit your local businesses( as safely as you can) and maybe drop some coins in a can for all these organizations who will have no money coming in.

Here at Allie's Home, there's ALWAYS something cooking! And if I'm not in the kitchen, I'm in the workshop building nesting boxes and bee houses! Spring is coming.....before you know it you'll be hearing the birds chirping and the bees buzzing. Helping them, helps YOU, your gardens, your environment! Don't kill my BUZZ!! (or my dragonflies, butterflies, and ladybugs!)

Did you know bird houses are really ‘nesting boxes’ for cavity nesting birds? They should go up in mid-March! Nesting boxes do NOT need perches as predators will use them to get at the nest. The best way to mount them is on a 4 foot green metal fence stake and an inexpensive plastic squirrel baffle on the pole to keep critters out. The boxes should be hinged for yearly cleaning. So when I'm not creating in the kitchen, or digging in the garden, you'll find me puttering in the workshop creating these boxes...which YOU can find at Down to Earth Garden Shop along with my herb and spice blends, jams and jellies and a whole slew of locally crafted items to appeal to the gardener or bird lover! And don't forget their beautiful fresh and dried flowers!

This is without a doubt the best jam I've ever had. Allie's Home, delicious!
Just made me some 1-2-3 chili! Sound the sirens... I'm hooked! Great flavor, nice heat Alison. I added some canned chilis and used sausage. Flavor added to the sausage. Everything yummy!
I’m going to use your chardonnay jelly with cream cheese today (with crackers). Do you just pour the jelly over softened cream cheese?
Hi - I bought a jar of your chardonnay jelly to serve with crackers. The jar says to use with cream cheese. Do you just spread the jelly over the cream cheese? Thanks!
A big THANK YOU to Allie's Home for the Everyday Italian Spice Mix. Dinner was delicious! Robert literally cheered when we brought him his plate of SECONDS! Rosie didn't want the pasta, just a spoon and some sauce. Definite crowd pleaser!
