"The man, the myth, the legend." A cliché quote that we often hear. But when it comes to Scott Winston, it's true to its core. The OG, the original. From his start as a very successful furniture salesman, to his founding and ownership of a small community gym in La Mesa, to his flourishing and everlasting turn as the first manager of Nutrimart San Carlos. An unassuming man with a large personality and an even larger beard- well, and heart. He was soft spoken but articulate and powerful in word, kind and compassionate, and overtly welcoming. Scott cemented the legacy of the San Carlos store very quickly; not simply by sales but through the intensity of the connections with those whom he served. And he certainly served his customers. Not only did he sell supplements from that store, but also listened, advised, and helped each and every person who came through his doors. No problem was too big, no story too long. As many of you will remember, it was not uncommon to spend hours at that store just talking with him. Many of us simply liked to stop by just to chat. But his lasting legacy, and one unbeknownst to all, was that he often reached into his own pocket to cover the cost of his very famous "discounts." Scott was a man of principle. And that principle was to put all before him. He was a mentor, he was an educator, he was a friend. But to many he was far more than that. He was family. He was ours. With heavy hearts and many tears, we now say a very tough goodbye. He will be incalculably missed, but we can appreciate and cherish the time that we were unfathomably lucky to have been gifted with him. We love you buddy and miss you greatly already.
