Today is World Cancer Day. Did you know 328,000 kids worldwide die from cancer (diagnosed and undiagnosed) each year.

Damon had Osteosarcoma -- It's a rare and very aggressive bone cancer. About 2% of childhood cancers are osteosarcomas.

Damon has been on my mind heavily for the past week or so. I often come back to this story from Clarke Finney with KENS 5 & Kens5.com. She brought out emotions from me I do my best to suppress. Mark of a great journalist. As many times as I have watched this....I still get emotional.

But this story reminds me of something I created in his honor for everyone to enjoy. That was Damon's strength. Making others feel great...even if he didn't.

I'm no longer with Traders Village, so the Sunflower Field is no longer my baby. But I will always cherish the mark I made...because I'm still living with the mark Damon made on the World.

Damon always inspires!

When Damon received the news that his cancer had returned for the third time, he responded by saying "I can do this all day!" His determined and positively 'happy' attitude radiated through everyone around him and his spirit was infectious.

Here's a little preview of Damon's 2020 Fiesta Medal. Thank you Stephanie Davis at Monarch Trophy Studio, they do the best work & she is the BEST rep!

Lisa Muto Billeck wanted something other than Captain America this year. So I designed the Maltese Cross to honor Damon's stint with the San Antonio Fire Department. But then I realized Cap's Shield would look great in the middle....sooooooo! LOL

Then added the Osteosarcoma yellow ribbon. To honor all the firefighters that helped with Damon's Bell & the fallen Firefighters it represents I added the actual silhouette of the bell that now has a permanent home at University Health System Pediatric Blood and Cancer Center. Finally Damon's mantra that kept him and all of us going "I CAN DO THIS ALL DAY!"

Medals will be $10.00 and money will be going to charity. Will have them ready soon.
