Good morning & happy Thursday! We have three babies out, a hand full that are pipped and one zipping!

Pipping is when they use the egg tooth to crack through the membrane and egg shell to start the hatch process. Zipping is when they begin to crack the egg shell in (typically) a linear pattern around the egg to lead to hatching within a short period of time!

So far we have hatched: Amerucana, Speckled Olive Egger, and Buff/Lavender Orpington from Otis my Golden Cuckoo Maran rooster.

Six and a half dozen collected today, washed, and going in the fridge for this week’s delivery.

We’re at day 19 on the incubator, and I had movement in one of my eggs tonight! Hatch date, this Wednesday!!! Hopefully some peeps soon…I was brainstorming and stressing about how I was going to keep the incubated guys alive if we lost power from that crazy storm today. Thankfully we did not, and all the animals stayed safe! Happy Sunday, have a great week!

18 eggs in the incubator this week! These will be our first generation of Mahler Farms chicks. In the incubator are Black Copper Marans, Olive Eggers, an Orpington, and an Americana egg. This should give us some second generation dark olive eggers hopefully! They’re all covered by our Maran rooster. See you in 21 days babies 🐥🙌🏻
