🪶 RUFFLE DEM FEATHERS 🪶 ;) 🤣
Boujee Mama's Sanctuary 2.0
Has something to say and yal gonna listen!! Soapbox time!!
This will UNDOUBTEDLY offend and ruffle some of yals entitled fluffy a$$ feathers but I honestly
DON'T CARE ANYMORE!!
I'M DONE KEEPING THE PEACE
Pictured below is my time, 3-4 months WORTH of feed, about $30-$40 a WEEK, yes a WEEK, bc lets face it, what baby doesn't eat you out of house at home & doesn't make a complete MESS with their food, let's add HEAT lamps to the mix bc baby chicks can not live without it, that alone raises the light bill lets add in A LOT of tender loving care..
What you don't see is the woman/man hours spent raising these for months soley for a CONVENIENCE for other people who bish and whine because they didn't want to raise baby chicks! I get it, its hard.. I've done it 1000 times...Litterally!!!
You know what REALLY REALLY REALLY grinds my gears, when you bust your butt raising chickens, ducks and any other livestock for months, years for people to want something given to them free or dirtcheap!!
YOU DO NOT WORK FOR FREE SO DON'T EXPECT ME TO!!
It's disgusting that people do not understand what actually goes into raising animals, or making things from scratch, and what it actually costs us! Those are the same people screaming, "support local" "buy fresh" but have no idea what that even means!! When we sell 4+ month old STARTED pullets or even mature hens at 1+ years old at $30-$40 each, we actually LOSE money on them! NOT PROFIT!
Just a reminder the next time you guys are wanting hens for free when people have them for sale. $30-$40 per MATURE & LAYING HEN is an EXTREMELY reasonable price for 1 laying hen and ima break it down for you..
* For only about 6 large breed chickens, they eat roughly 1-2 sacks of feed if not more in 30 days.
* One sack of feed is roughly 20 30.
* Laying age is at least 8-12 months.
Depending on breed. Sometimes over 1 year old...
* Let's not forget about all the roos that hatch out at the same time that we have to feed until we are sure what it is, either try and find homes for them or butcher and put in freezer. Still takes months of feed for "organically" raised...
We all want HENS.. . but that's just nature of the beast.
🎶 We can't always get what we want. 🎶 🤷♀️
Stop being and entitled D-bag and use your brain for a moment!!
* Just the Feed for only 6 chickens a month till average laying age (6-8 months) Is upwards to 200 a month for quality feed..
* Heat lamps for bitties plus higher light bill for months to keep them warm.
* Feeders/waterers
* Coop/run/tarps etc to keep safe from predators/elements.
* Shavings/sand etc to keep area clean
(Weekly investment)
* Worming meds to prevent parasites/illnesses. (Monthly investment)
*Time spent caring for each bird.
Especially if the bird had a vent prolapse or sour crop or any other health related issue bc that's what comes with raising any form of livestock. (PRICELESS) YOU DO NOT WORK FOR FREE, SO PLZ DO NOT EXPECT US TO!!!
* This list is for a hand full of birds. Most house holds need close to 10 birds just to supply enough eggs for their small family in a one week span. You also need a roo tp keep the ladies in check and to protect your flock. More than 10 hens, means more roos. Gotta factor in hen to roo ratio and such.. More feed, more meds etc..
Let's not forget all the casualties that happen while raising also. Hence where the supplies come in to keep them safe...
So that MEASLY 30 - 40 per bird is getting off EASY. It's a CONVENIENCE FEE FOR YOU getting your almost or already laying birds up to term.
So if you can't afford that price but you're happy to throw $8 a day for morning Latte, well youy ftiend suck as a human being and need to reevaluate your priorities and you are NOT ready to raise these birds.. Sacrifices must be made! They are an investment!!
Don't dm me stating my price is too steep and then catch you walking around with a new pair of Jordan's or Michael Kors bag and want my chicken for cheap/free because I will undoubtedly rip you a new one...
You pay for convenience at gas stations, restaurants, etc..
Please do your research before just jumping into this with your rose colored glasses..:)
I know I repeated myself a few times. Maybe if you caught that you will get it through your thick a$$ skull! Geez, its like talking to a wall with a lot of yal!!
If you still don't get it, simply go back to living under your entitled rock instead of us out here with the rest of us who trying to just get out heads above water and NOT COMPLETELY DROWN!!!
On another note, all fellow awesome breeders, feel free to join the a better non judgemental new group. No drama. Just awesome people connecting for a better tomorrow.
